  1. I remember the beginning of this thread. My word, I have spent too many years lurking on this board!
  2. How disappointed am I? Haha. As the years of ineptitude rack up, I find myself watching less and less football. I didn't have high hopes for the year. After signing AR, I did hope for some quasi entertaining games at the beginning of the season. That hope died 4 plays in. The Jets have been garbage for some time. They're as entertaining to watch as a train wreck. Since 2010, (maybe 2015) they have been so lackluster, it's comical. I'll watch the season opener next year, and depending upon if they look like an actual NFL team, I may watch more games. Who knows? The Jets used to be a huge part of my life. Now, I bypass watching most games, and read about the suck afterwards instead. Its a better use of my time. I have better things to do with my time than invest 4 hours every weekend on such a crap product. Woody Johnson has slowly and methodically killed the joy the Jets once added to my life. So, am I disappointed? Not really. One needs to have expectations in order to be disappointed. I have none. These are Woody Johnson's Jets. I suspect that we will never see a superbowl for as long as he owns them.
  3. MetLife is just bland. I've been behind the scenes at quite a few NFL stadiums. The facilities at MetLife are decent, but the stadium is just so bland. Personally, I think the Colts stadium (Lucas Oil Field) is pretty awesome. It has character, acoustics are good for the crowd noise, and sight lines are pretty darn good. Nonetheless, I'm glad they're replacing the turf at MetLife. It wasn't horrible to walk on, but there were other fields that felt a lot better underfoot.
  4. I thought that this might all be a troll job by Rodgers against the media, earlier today. It's looking like that might just be what happened. Funny stuff.
  5. I could see Rodgers having already agreed to the trade, but telling the Packers and Jets to keep it hush hush, simply to mess with the media. He very well could have told the Packers and Jets that if anything is leaked, he is retiring, but if things don't get leaked, he will sign off by Wednesday. Who knows?
  6. If the Jets don't sign AR, they can sign the flight crew. Woody has this all figured out. He's a master businessman with a great eye for talent. I feel dirty having typed this. Not about the flight crew, but about Woody.
  7. @SoFlaJets you mentioned a lot of posters that I haven't seen post in quite some time. I forgot about half of them. Then again, I forget everything. Lol. The time around 2006 - 2010 was when we had some competitive teams. I still can't believe that was over a decade ago. There was a lot of passion back them. The Jets have had some really horrible squads with some folks who were just difficult to cheer for since then. Until this year... Maybe that contributed to an overall lack of interest? I don't know. Anyhow, great thread. Awesome to see some of the old names. Hope you're doing well!
  8. Ugh, my PTSD is strong in this thread. I had the misfortune of living in Minnesota for 7 years. My ex wife is from there. Vikings fans are not a smart bunch. They are Homer's, without a doubt. Anyhow, it sucks that we lost, but there is a lot to like from this game going forward. Why anyone would listen to those announcers with those God awful accents is beyond me.
  9. I like the timing of this move. With Saleh switching to White before this Bears game, it gives White a good chance to put up some decent numbers against a bad defense. That should humble Zach, maybe... Zach is clearly lacking awareness at this point in his career. A little humiliation like that which will be possible when White plays better than Zach has all year in a game will be a great opportunity for Zach to wake the F up. If White then continues to play well, you ride with him for the rest of the season. In the interim, you monitor Zach's attitude to see if he starts putting in more work and gets humble. If Zach does clean up his act, you play him if/when White fails against the better defenses of Minnesota or Buffalo. If White sucks and Zach continues to act like an entitled clown, you ride out with Flacco and trade for a vet in the off-season. I think Saleh could possibly be the smartest coach we've had here for as long as I can remember. He's been very impressive lately. Accountability is a good thing. Saleh is walking the walk, from what I'm seeing.
  10. First game. Man, that's special! My first Jets home game was in 2015. I'm about the same age as you, I'd guess. Needless to say, but it's something wonderful. Anyhow, after 2015 when I made it to 2 games that season, I ended up getting a gig where I worked every Jets home game at MetLife. I can tell you, walking on that field every Sunday was amazing. I stopped working the games after the Covid lock out season. I just didn't have it in me to deal with the traffic back to LI every Sunday night. Still, those memories are dear to me. I would suggest getting in a little early. Take it all in. Breathe in the air. Let the sunshine hit your face, enjoy some good food, and relax before the game. Walk around the concourses a bit, check out the fan centric stuff outside the stadium. There's a lot to like about GameDay. Sometimes, security will let fans walk on the turf after the game. It's kind of hit or miss, but if you're up for it, find a security guard on the lower level and ask. Security are always in the orange shirts. They might say yes, but there's no guarantees game to game. That first game for me felt like a sort of homecoming back in 2015. I have no doubt it will feel the same for you. With that in mind.... Welcome home Warfish! Enjoy the game! -Greenie
  11. I can only speak to my own experience regarding this. I loathed Tom Brady for many, many years. Being a life long Jets fan will kinda make that a given. Then I met Brady. I've interacted with him a few times over the course of four seasons, and have seen the way he treats those around him. As much as it used to pain me to admit it, Tom Brady is a good guy. As to the other issues people may have with his business or the whining to the refs or spygate, etc... I get it. As to to how he treats everyday people, he's a good guy. Just my experience and 2 cents...
