Sheldon Richardson has been impressing more than Green & White fans. His opponents and the NFL in general have been taking notice, which has resulted in Richardson being named today as the league's Rookie of the Month for November.

In three November contests, Richardson notched 23 tackles, including four for loss, a half sack and seven quarterback hurries. At Baltimore last Sunday, he registered a half sack and tied for a game-high nine tackles, including three for loss on running plays and one more on a reception.

Also this month, Richardson helped lead a Jets run defense that held opponents to 176 yards on 82 carries (2.1 avg.). On the season, he has tallied 72 tackles, including 10 for loss, three sacks, 22 quarterback hurries, one pass defensed and a forced fumble.

Sheldon is the first Jet to win a league Rookie of the Month honor since 2009, when Mark Sanchez received the honor for the first month of his Jets career in September, and he's the first Jets defensive player to gain this tribute since teammate LB David Harris took it for November 2007.

EXTEND REX!!!! We cannot have a dominant defensive line in spite of the rest of the team without REX!!!

In other news, has Vernon Gho.... I mean Quentin Coples done anything notable this season?

Coples will try and be moved this offseason I'd guess.

Changed position recovering from the ankle injury has actually flashed lately.  Comparing him to Gholston is just plain retarded.

Word! He has shown flashes last games and is excused as he was put in a new position.

Karl Dunbar's bio. I had no idea he helmed that beastly Bears D-line, too.

Moving on to the NFL, Dunbar was hired by Lovie Smith to guide to Chicago Bears defensive line. He helped tutor a young and talented line that included rookie 1st-round pick Tommie Harris and 2nd-rounder Tank Johnson. The Bears led the NFL in 3rd-down defense, allowing opponents to convert at a 30.5% rate while ranking 15th in the NFL in pass defense. After the 2004 season, Dunbar returned to his alma mater, which had just hired Les Miles as new head coach. In 2005, Dunbar’s linemen paved the way for the Tigers defense to rank #5 in the nation in total defense at 276.8 yards per game and 7th in the country in rushing defense at 94.8 yards per game. The defense also allowed only 15.2 points per game, which ranked 8th in the nation, and led the SEC with 39 team sacks.

In 2006, Dunbar returned to the NFL, as he was hired by the Vikings' new head coach, Brad Childress. Under his tutelage, the so-called "Williams Wall", consisting of defensive tackle Kevin Williams and nose tackle Pat Williams, led the NFL in defense against the run each year between 2006 and 2008. Over the same period, the Vikings only allowed an average of 70.8 rushing yards per game.
