Jets won battle for Darrelle Revis, but did Patriots win the war ? ? ?

He helped make Butler a star after getting picked by the ref on the TD pass to Baldwin. He was also burned by Steve Smith vs. Balt. He was mediocre in the playoffs for NE.

wasn't that a very questionable call against Smith?  he was great in the SB outside of the play he got picked.

Smith just burned him most of the game? No? And yes he was good until the critical red zone play. I am of course just picking on him but he is no PP from AZ.

at his peak there has never been a better cover corner, he has been human post injury but still great and PP gets beat often.

I think he was a better cover corner than Deion, Deion was the better playmaker.  w/ the ball in his hands he was a threat to score at any time.

We're splitting hairs. In the end with both in their primes QBs avoided throwing in their direction for sure. But I don't think Revis is that elite anymore and neither is Sherman for that matter. PP and Norman are the best CBs in the league right now.

I believe Revis was playing hurt this year, he did not look like himself most of the year and I don't think it's just getting old.  we'll see next year.

"bu bu but geno" Thats funny I don't remember revis throwing 3 INT's with the jets last 3 possessions. LOL how does Fitz's beard taste?

Bills #1 WR, the guy we resigned Revis to put "On an Island", Sammy Watkins, 11 catches, 136 yards, broke our Defenses back all day long.

That was on Revis, and that beat us as much, if not more, than the one INT int the endzone (the only INT of the three actually on Fitz).

Fitz was not great that day, no one disputes that fact.

Revis was dogsh*t that day, couldn't cover a corpse, and people who deny it are deluded.

Fitz was paid 3.5 million to play QB, and set franchise records in 2015.

Revis was paid 16 million and failed spectacularly on the biggest moment on the biggest stage.  Probably thinks he deserves a raise too, holdout inbound?

to be fair we were playing zone all day and he didn't have a chance to go head to head w/ him.  when he did at the meadowlands he shut him down.  the HC also made no adjustments.

franchise records are awesome w/ the bst WRs we have maybe ever had but when it came down to it he threw the season ending pick.

And he did vastly more to get us to that moment than Revis did.

It's impossible to discuss guys fans have diefied in any legitimate way.  Revis was not great in 2015, and was sh*t in  that last game and it cost us the game.

And we paid him franchise QB money.

But we'll blame the guy who threw one bad INT with most of a quarter left to play for "losing the game".

Revis makes one stop, at all, in the 4th, and maybe things are different.

Our O-line actually block, our RB's not both be hurt and worthless by years end, WR's (good as they were) not get the dropsies, and yes, had Fitz played better, maybe we win.

Alot fo blame ot go around, it's laughable to see fans simply refuse to assign Revis his 16 million worth of obvious blame.

If Revis wasn't worth 16 million this season, then Cromartie and Skrine were certainly not worth the 7 million and 3 million (which bumps up to 7.75 million) respectively. For the amount of money the Jets spent in free agency in the secondary and to still have given up what they did in terms of yards and TDs, was just not very good.

This is a completely pointless article.  Tom Brady is the reason that team is where they are and he was the reason they were able to be gift wrapped a Super Bowl last year.  Revis is a much more important addition to a 2014 Jet team with no talent and no QB than he is on a team that owes all of its success to Tom Brady, Belicheat, Ernie Adams and the Deflator.

Revis deserves blame, he was just really, really good and not the greatest of all time.  he was still a better corner than Fitz was a QB.

Is there an NFL rule that I missed stating that when defenses are playing zone coverage the CB must give an 8-yard cushion?

that was the gameplan, I more blame Bowles. even if Revis was getting beat Bowles has to make an adjustment and he did not.

He was the best defensive player on the Pats' best defense in as long as a decade....Revis was a huge part of why they won last year.

Pats don't have a Revis this year. They're still winning games. Brady finds a way to win. Having Revis just made his job easier. Don't make Revis ought to be Brady. Besides their salaries, where Revis owns Brady, their impact on the game is miles apart.

~ ~  Woody praises Revis: Johnson had plenty of good things to say about cornerback Darrelle Revis.

“It’s always great to have somebody, Hall of Famer type player like Darrelle,” Johnson said. “We are very happy to have him. On the field, off the field, the leadership and the way he plays and just his presence is huge for us.”

“He played pretty well last year,” Johnson added when asked if Revis can still play at an elite level for years to come. “If he is not one, he is one or two in the league. He played well and brings a level of maturity in the locker room that is (worth) more than just one player.”

The Patriots didn't win the war since they aren't going to the Super Bowl. Yes, the made it into the AFC championship game; for the Jets that would be a huge win, but for the Pats that is a disappointment.

As for Revis not being on the Pats, who knows; maybe Revis doesn't get beat twice like Collins did and the Pats beat the Broncos. Maybe not - it is hard to tell.

Either way, the 'war' was lost by both teams...

Yes Brady and Bill are the reasons the Pats are always in contention, but we will never know if Revis made enough of the difference to make the SB possible last year.
