All Draft Topics Must Stay On Main Board

Maxman

Recommended Posts

We just wanted our valued JetNation posters to know that all draft related content must stay on the main football forum. As much as we love off topic posts, this is a football site and we have a fantastic separate lounge for those off topic posts.

At this point in the season, coming off an awful 2005 season, the draft, free agency and a occasional signing of a lower rung street free agent are the only real football related items for long suffering Jets fans to talk about.

For us to take a mock draft or legitimate Senior Bowl or Combine post, that a poster spent a great deal of time on, and banish it to another forum, with much less traffic, would be tantamount to a slap in the face of posters.

That's not how we operate here.

I think that's a good tact Maxman....and I can tell being banned doesn't preclude one from checking out other Jets sites at work

I hate to say anything negative about JI, because I've been treated well over there. But, the draft and free agency are the only things going on for a long while....

To discard all draft posts and keep off topics around on the main board seems, well....."different".

I leave it at that, because I know how hard it is to run a site....

But good idea on your part to keep the draft topics on the main football page.

Max, does that means no posts about lesbian cheerleaders in this forum?:shock:

=D>=D>=D>

Why would any Jets message board banish a draft or FA thread to another forum?

What else do Jet fans have to talk about.

Any Jet message board owner/moderator/thief who puts these threads in another forum is really a complete dumbass.

These are football web-sites (supposedly anyway)-seems strange why you would want to suppress actual football talk on a football site- we could always go back to cheerleading articles to talk about here

Are we still allowed to post about how great it is to be able to pay for free stuff and slobber all over the weblord's anal crevice?

Yes you can continue posting that way.

About the slobber...going forward try to achieve a little more knob and slightly less gob.

Thank You.

Faba, I couldn't agree any more with you. And, again, I hate criticize, because they've treated me well at JI. But, it's just simply mind boggling how a main board can be filled with 60%, or more, off topics (non-football) and the draft talk would be banished to a wasteland like new forum. As Tex noted, what else can fans of a 4-12 team talk about prior to free acency?

Today, at mid-day, there were 4 JI readers in the ENTIRE draft forum, but probably 20 in the hottie thread alone, because it's on the main board.

I used to help a good friend who used to run a site for an AFC South squad. Did front page NFL content, advised him. Ect....I literally begged him, via E-Mail, not to seperate the draft talk. Eventually, he scrapped the draft board, but lost a ton of posters to rival sites

Here is what will irk fans: Their draft threads, 100% releveant, will be pushed away from 99% of the surfers to their site, while the all the silly "Happy Birthday" and reality TV show threads will remain on the main board.

Boards gain momentum over time. Folks want their posts read, which is the reason they sway towards high traffic boards to begin with....Taking the draft talk away from the main board (where most eyeballs are), will simply chase them to rival sites.

P.S: After the Senior Bowl, the amount of traffic in the draft forum will slow so much, it will literally grind all draft talk to a halt at JI.

Well said Riggs and I agree 100%. I don't care if there are 20 different drafted-related thread topics, they should remain on the main board.

One area where I do strongly disagree, is all the friggn' "mock drafts" that clutter a main board. Unlike relevant draft information, actual reports, etc., these mock drafts are just opinions (yea, yea, I know, isn't that the purpose of a message board) and just take up space.

Hopefully Max will put all the forthcoming mock drafts in their right place.

Somebody suggested a sticky for mocks. That sounded like a good idea. If it gets out of control we will take care of it.

That's a great idea. Instead of shipping them off to their own Siberean forum, they will remain stuck on the main board.

Good idea whoever suggested that.

Now if we could only keep song lyrics out of every forum, we would be in good shape.

mean mister mustard sleeps in the park

shaves in the dark trying to save paper

sleeps in a hole in the road

saving up to buy some clothes

keeps a ten-bob note up his nose

such a mean old man

such a mean old man

his sister pam works in a shop

she never stops, she's a go-getter

takes him out to look at the queen

only place that he's ever been

always shouts out something obscene

such a dirty old man

Thanks Tex, it's not just JI.....That Dolphins poster here at JN that runs the huge board down there has a seperate draft forum too....

They were real nice to DD.com after the 2005 draft and I was thinking of starting an account there just to chat football from time to time....But why brother when there are 500 people in the main forum and only 10, at most, in the draft forum?

I got a great idea for stickys at other sites: Make all the Happy Birthday threads on the main board "sticky" =D>

It's actually getting pretty hectic over at JI, with folks complaining about the explosion of non topics, while legit, draft related football talk is banned from the main board.

I chimed in yesterday at JI and have nothing more to add. I think it's a mistake....

But Sean told Tex he paid a significant amount for a survey (or something) and he had to seperate the forums....

They even have a new "hottie" forum, but I'm still getting XXX porn links in the official hottie thread

BTY, who made L-Lady JI's official spokeswoman?

Every time fans have a beef, she's right in middle tyring to restore calm, which is good. But she always side with the higher ups -- Sean, ect.

Now that Sooth is here, we should ask him to ask her to eat her own poop.

Sooth? Would you please ask Limo to eat her own poop? Thanks.

Thanks Riggs.

You know I have the utmost respect for you and bit.

I'm just waiting for the day that bit comes clean on DFat.

Seriously, you guys have done a phenominal job.

Thanks Tex. Your a serious college/NFL fan, that's who we have to reach.

DRob is his favorite player, Tex, don't expect it to happen soon....I guess D-Rob is still young, so who knows?

Jets did give up a ton for him and he's not exactly Tommie Harris, yet.

One more point on JI: L-Lady keeps talking about "draftniks"....Most "draftniks" are just fans of the pro and college game -- real football fans?

If your a fan of college ball and the NFL, it's just "natural" to be intrigued by where the best collegians will play.

Personally, I think the draft beef over there is between the "casual Jet fan", who wants to talk about music, TV shows, ect....and resent the serious fans for thinking ahead.

L-Lady says these players may or may not be drafted, so they don't belong in the main forum, but who has a better shot at being drafted by the team, LenDale White or Jessica Alba?

Maybe they should have a new "Happy Birthday" forum too :^o

For my own team, I would go with Jessica Alba. I would recommend that the Jets go with LenDale White however

Thinking of starting a new forum. I would hook a webcam up to it and point it towards my back yard. It will be called:

Watching Grass Grow.

All posts about my lawn should be made in this forum. If you wish to post about your lawn, put that in the Lounge.

Thanks!
