cindy
Not sure about Cindy. Our New York locality pay is 28.72% and DC is 24.22%. Hopefully that would be more than $1K a year. you are correct, the geographic differential for my job has gone up considerably since I was hired. the average pay differential for state jobs is still about $1k a year for PEF employees, tho. I'm cheap but.... I've been cheaper. mine now would be: appointees who work in the five boroughs of New York City or in Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, or Westchester Counties will receive an additional $3,026 annual downstate adjustment. Appointees who work in Dutchess, Orange, or Putnam Counties will receive an additional $1,513 annual mid-Hudson adjustment. PFSIKH
You would hope. We get the rest of the US rate or 14.16%.
#27TheDominator
The trouble with this place is that there is nothing reasonable on a metro line. You are either driving to work or paying through the nose. Either of those things are distasteful to me, but I pay through the nose. I looked long and hard, so they are only gouging me out of one nostril.
cindy
my math is weak but I don't think that's 5% at top of grade for me. I'm surprised its that high, and I'm probably screwing up the numbers.
cindy
my commute is by far the most expensive part of the location. way more than rent and utilities. but it's usually the best part of the day. except when it snows.
#27TheDominator
To drive here would probably be about 45 minutes to an hour for a 12 minute drive and it would cost over $250/month to park. I'd also be a constant risk to fall asleep in the car on the way in and I wouldn't be able to go out and get tanked up after work.
cindy
I do 60 miles round trip, takes about an hour each way. the car payment and the gas an the tires and oil changes... parking is free tho. falling asleep driving is always fun. for the other... home is always the safest place to get tanked. PFSIKH
My trip can be about 35 minutes on a godd day, but usually is in the 40-45 minute range. The one good thing is I can change up how I go home. It breaks the monotny.
cindy
one crappy country road is as good as another. it's fun to guess which one is washed out. I stay home to avoid... um. yeah. home is safe.
PFSIKH
Unfortunately it is two lane highway or through downtown. The higway can be quicker, but unfortunately somewhere a little north of here the concept of slower traffic to the right is lost. Then where it turns into the most populated area, it decides to drop to one lane which gives you the inevitable traffic jam. Or through downtown which also falls victim to the slow traffic conundrum and the spectacular planning of the county which has only two bridges that crosses the big river that snakes through town and they place the two bridges a few miles apart in the most remote part of town. Which does nothing to alleviate traffic.
#27TheDominator
I can sit in traffic looking at one monument or the other while standing still on what should be a 50 mph trip. As for safety, when I am drinking I am not looking for safe. Those around me are.
cindy
I could take the highway but it's twice the gas and the last high speed wreck put me off. yes,I know, Dom, thats why I stay home.

It's Richard Caster, thank you very much.

Considering he looks like he had a half way decent career that is surprise. I will defintely have a Bud Light in your honor. I might remember you at that exact moment in time, but please except the tribute.

I loved him and Little Eddie Bell and I was pissed when he ran off to Houston. Barkum was a fair replacement. People thought it was an Al Toon jersey, but I knew better. #27TheDominator
Yogurt, apple sauce and frosted mini wheats. Lunch? That's snack time in kindergarten. I am having two slices of "chicken pesto pizza." They were out of stromboli/calzone and I got this because it's less like pizza, so I don't have to pretend. PFSIKH
That sounds good, but I am sticking with my 'snacks'. Since I transitioned, I found I sit on my ass way to much. trying to maintain my girlish figure.

Since I transitioned, I found I sit on my ass way to much. trying to maintain my girlish figure. That's why I walked down the stairs and 4 blocks to the pizzeria. Then back and back up the 5 flights. Exercise + tasty lunch. Though today you may have me beat.
PFSIKH
Yeah, I get 30 minutes for lunch. The nearest eating establishment, outside of the 'store' in the next building is at least 4 miles. During the week, I do not eat much for lunch. I might have an ocassional Starbucks Ice Coffee or something from Einstein's Bagels. The weekend, I usually eat human food. #27TheDominator
Ah. The joys of working in the city. It costs, but I can eat well. I usually load up at lunch so I can have a more sensible dinner and exercise in the evening. I used to just pig out at every meal, but that starts to take a toll as you age. cindy
just got back from lunch with humans. bah. Dom, I will surely drink to your birthday. many times. KH, the insurance goes to my blood relations, one of whom will either lose it gambling or waste it on redecorating the third time in a year, and the other of whom will invest wisely and bail the rest of them out. damn I hate actual socialization. I missed like a page of posts here alone. Edited December 28, 2012 by cindy
