You are not going to have a backup for him. The Jets idea to have a SF-like system where you have a solid OL, interchangeable RBs and WRs who can YAC makes a tremendous amount of sense. SF is clearly a top 5 NFL team over the last 5 years. If I am Woody I would stick with this plan, but JD has to be better. He needs to fix the OL, find YAC WRs and not midgets, and find a QB that could work. SF overpaid Jimmy G and plugged him in. They experienced success as a franchise. Waiting out another season or two to see if he's "the guy" isn't an option right now. Draft OL, OL and OL. I say this every offseason.
