Giants | Strahan ordered to pay wife $15.3 million

Fri, 12 Jan 2007 18:33:38 -0800

Jeanne MacIntosh, of the New York Post, reports New York Giants DE Michael Strahan has been ordered to pay his ex-wife Jean $15.3 million as part of their divorce. Essex County New Jersey Judge James Convery blasted Strahan in the written ruling. Convery said the arguments he gave to get out of paying up lacked "any credible evidence." Strahan agreed to pay his her 20 percent of his assets for each year of their marriage and giver her half of his total assets, according to a prenuptial agreement. Strahan argued he was not responsible for the 20 percent because she failed to ask for it every year. The judge gave Jean Strahan back interest on her 20 percent annuity, raising the expected payout by $1.25 million. Michael Strahan will also have to pay $18,000 per month in child support and needs to pay $311,150 in a lump sum for support dating back to August 2005.

If you met a woman and she is hanging upside down on a stripper pole with a $20 bill stiking out of her ass..move on.

It sounds like a fair deal for a woman who had to look at that gap toof muppett for 6 years and put up with the crap that comes along with being a wife of an athlete...

But, THIS IS NOT NEWS... Why should we care... Great, another divorce. Maybe Strahan can do better looking this time, or if her allegations are true, he could move to Massachusetts with Dr. Ian Smith and get married....

bet the Pats would love to have him and his gay marriage.... talk about attention! (just joking of course... he is too old for the Pats)

They would take each others last name

Michael Strahan-Smith

Dr Ian Smith-Strahan

Of course, Strahan would also want to be called Dr. Michael Strahan-Smith figuring he is entitled to it...

Im not sure which it should be, but they would probably go with Strahan since he is more well known.

That's what this moron is paying with a prenup. Time to find a new attorney.

"Strahan agreed to pay his her 20 percent of his assets for each year of their marriage and giver her half of his total assets, according to a prenuptial agreement."

Most jurisdictions seem to just throw out the pre-nup anyway, and I think they did so here too, he's on the hook for much more than that.

If you're going to get married, make sure it is the right person, or that you just don't make much money.

Thanks for the explanation.

It all makes sense now.

That's more out west. NY uses them unless you can prove duress or other factors. I don't think California even considers them. Not sure about NJ, I've been out of school a long time, but according to the article that was his prenup.
