faba
I do not think many question Young being a great physical specimen but as a QB- until I see a better accuracy and touch on his throws -that is all I see

R44
Yea Shadow, he did have at least 1 big last season (Michigan)--kind of his hi-light.... I remember seeing Texas lose (or win) a big game 12-0 (Oklahoma?), in which Young looked like he was below the CFL level--he was way too scatter armed (I agree with Faba). I think he stays at QB and improves a bit, but as far as the NFL, he's lucky has time to make the jump. P.S: That's a weird article by Duarte of the Houston paper--In the intro, he claims NFL scouts rave about him...then he writes he may not even be a NFL QB
PatsFanTX
I do not think many question Young being a great physical specimen but as a QB- until I see a better accuracy and touch on his throws -that is all I see Supposedly, Young has been working with 2 QB coaches and throwing 1,500 passes a day through all kinds of different drills. The guy has a gun for an arm but sometimes he is lucky to hit the side of the barn. Should be very interesting to see if he can improve his accuracy as much as he needs to over one off-season. Bottom line, he will definitly be a NFL player, it's just a matter of what position.

It was his legs. He ran for more yards than he threw. He's not a good QB... just like Vick, cept Vick can launch the ball.
BlackLabelJetsFan
Bottom line, he will definitly be a NFL player, it's just a matter of what position. Great point. He's a good enough athlete to play in the NFL. If he's humble enough to be open to other positions, playing in the NFL may come a lot easier. TomShane
Have they ever taken one of these scattershot college QB's and made them into real NFL starters? The one thing that will preclude you from being an NFL QB is a lack of accuracy. You can get by with lack of mobility, lack of arm strength, even lack of size, but lack of accuracy will kill you every time.

I agree TS, he's not a player that jumps out at me for QB skills......Plus, the article insinuates he's got average arm strength. But he's got 2 things going for him: 1) He still has time to improve--2 seasons. 2) NFL teams, foolishly, draft on potential, so who really knows what they are thinking? In the summer of 2004 I knew a lot about Aaron Rodgers, but would be lying if said I knew a lot about then 20 year old Alex Smith... And how did Jason Campbell get drafted so high? Going into 2004, he was a liability at times for Auburn? Overall, however, I agree with you.....Check out the Oklahoma loss Texas had...Young looked below CFL par. Facinating player to watch. He at least fits the profile to a great kicker to be, Vince Young, what the hell has he done? He can't throw a damn.

MasonJet
All I know about Young is that he ran through my Michigan Wolverine's D in the Rose Bowl. I don't know how much of a passer he is but he can run like a gazelle.
Scott Dierking
I can't see Young being a consistent QB on the college level, let alone the Pro level. He just doesn't have a quarterback presence. His eyes, his head, it is not looking downfield. He is looking to run and finding a seam. He is a heck of an athlete, I will give him credit for that. Tacklers seem to bounce off of him. I just don't like Big 12 QB's either. They just sdon't seem to have systems that are QB friendly.
