Would love Manny or Abreu( Abreu is so underrated) and Sheets/Perez.

With the 3 or 4 interchangable SP's and corner outfielders(with the exception of Manny) the GM's hold all the cards.

Wigginton, Hinske and Cabrera would make some nice depth for teams with payroll room. Cabrera obviously wouldn't be too likely to accept that type of a role.

I may be wrong, but I think Hinske signed a deal with a Japanese team.

also, when it comes Abreu, I totally agree. While we may not be an elite player, the guy has a career OBP above .400, career .300 batting avg, he has a knack for the big hit, can steal bases, and has a strong throwing arm.

I still think he is a good fit for the Mets. He's the perfect #2 hitter at this point in his career. Abreu and Reyes are ideal table setters for Wright, Beltran, and Delgado.

1. Reyes SS

2. Abreu RF

3. Wright 3B

4. Beltran CF

5. Delgado 1B

6. Church LF

7. Castillo 2B

8. Schneider C

That lineup looks nice except for the #7 spot, can't stand Castillo. Abreu is gonna go for a bargain price, you just have to deal with and I don't know where I first heard this description but that "Abreu plays the wall as if it's electrified barbwire"

You take the good with the bad, how many players don't have a flaw? You can count them on 2 hands, and they have there own rooms Cooperstown.

I've come around on Abreu. I wouldn't mind the Mets signing him if they aren't going after Manny, their offense as it is now isn't good enough.

Abreu has said he would accept a 1 year deal. Mets are crazy if they don't jump at that, if they are in fact, not interested in Manny.

I had made that point and someone reminded me that right now the Mets are too lefty heavy in the line-up.

there are wayyyyy to many good players on that list are teams waiting until the last minute or something??.. what do some of these guys do when they dont have anywhere to report to come spring training?

and Abreu would be good any where.. no one in baseball can work a count like that guy. IMO

I'd love for the Cubs to sign Dunn, put Soriano in right, and put Fukudome in CF (possibly platoon I guess).

Or better yet, sign Sheets and use Heilman in the bullpen. Only thing that sucks about Sheets is the draft picks given up. Oliver Perez sucked last season, but I still kind of think he can be a good pitcher.

I want Griff Jr for DH... let him hang around long enough to beat Bond's record... keep him out of the field and he should stay healthy... lol

I'll pass. We have A-Rod for that stuff, and Griffey isn't as good as Matsui at this point in his career. If we are going to bring someone in, I'll take Adam Dunn in his prime.

Dunn just kinda seems like a half measure. If they're gonna get ridiculous they might as well get Manny ridiculous.

Manny ridiculous comes with a significantly higher price tag over a longer duration. As it is, he's too risky to make a long term investment in.

Strikeouts aren't a huge problem, the downside is you are unable to advance runners and the chance for defensive error is minimal. But the upside is you typically don't get into double plays. It's just more of a mental effect more than anything.
