They play in the same market as the Yankees but that doesn't mean they're going to spend the same money. They do have a high payroll but I think if they're going to add any big talent it's going to be next year. As badly as they need a catcher, they could end up in a bidding war with the Yankees for the likes of Joe Mauer and Carl Crawford if they end up hitting free agency. Not to mention the pitchers that'll be out there if they don't address it this year. It's the only thing that makes even a little bit of sense in how the way they're going about their business.
