Atogwe refuses to sign tender, UFA June 1st

Usually if you are a RFA the team retains those rights as long as they extend the qualifying offer on June 1. Unless the Rams have no thought of paying him 7 million (and they paid him close to that last year) Id imagine they would just extend the offer. If they dont he becomes a UFA, but we would be restricted until July 22nd in signing him.

He's probably going to want BIG money and in the next two years we need to resign the majority of these players to long term deals:

Darrelle Revis

Nick Mangold

D'Brickashaw Ferguson

Santonio Holmes

Braylon Edwards

David Harris

Antonio Cromartie

And then lets face it, if he does become the RB of the future: Shonn Greene.

Sooooooooooooo yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ... probably not going to happen. But with the Jets you never know.

I'm not sure he'd be a UFA in so far as the final eight rules are concerned. Jets were free to sign any RFA who wasn't tendered without restriction. It's a waiting game 'til June 1, anyway.

Atogwe will become an unrestricted free agent because the Rams, his former team, tendered him (making him a RFA) then WITHDREW the tender. When a restricted free agent does not have an offer from his former team, he becomes unrestricted.

Just wanted to correct the impression that Atogwe will become a UFA by not signing his tender; he has no tender to sign. That's why he will become a UFA, instead of remaining a RFA.
