Do Pats fans think this team is better than the undefeated team?

You really dont believe this, do you?

Better? No. As good? It's debatable. I think the best thing that happened to this team is losing to the Browns. If the 2007 team had lost a game during the regular season, they would have beat the Giants in the Super Bowl IMO.

Mostly no. Overall the 2007 team was better than the 2010 team.

However, one big positive difference between the 2010 team and the 2007 team is the trajectory.

In 2007 most of the blowouts and complete dominations occurred early in the season and the few late ones were mostly against weak non-playoff bound opponents. The 2007 team literally played its best football in September and declined steadly with its single worst game being in February. While the team started out unbelievably strong it decline week by week. Although even as it declined it remained considerably stronger than most of the rest of the league.

In contrast the 2010 team was at its weakest in September and has improved steadily week by week. Its best performances have been in December and against playoff teams such as the Jets and Bears. While there is no question that the Sept07 team would completely destroy the Sept10 team, there is a decent chance a scrappy Dec10 team could beat the Dec07 team, although I would still give the edge to the '07 team. If the NEP continue to improve at the pace they have by February the 2010 team will be better than the 2007 team was at the 2007 teams best.

Consider this perspective: When the Patriots and Jets met for the first time this year the Pats #1 CB was an inexperienced rookie, by the time the second match up occurred the Patriots #1 CB was pro-bowler.

Two COMPLETELY different teams with an identical result: Heartbreak City, Chachi.

Hey i'm not trying to say the Pats will win. I think it will be a good game, featuring two good teams. I also don't like how so many patriots fans are saying "45-3!!!!!!" I realize that game is history and has no bearing on the upcoming game.

Come on!

Don't act like a socialist Patriot robot!

If I was a Pats fan, I'd be licking my chops.

Unless Eric Smith somehow plays like John Lynch again, we are ******* screwed.

I was just trying to be respectful considering I am a patriots fan who came wandering onto a jets forum. I didn't want to be "that guy" on the other teams forum running my mouth a mile a minute. You're right though, that was kind of a weak statement haha

While there are few Patriots fans who remember the 45-3 score and think here comes another blowout, most such as myself realize the teams are pretty close. I think the Patriots are going to win. But Patriots aren't playing the Panthers this weekend.

Truth is let's not worry about the past, let's focus on the future. So... you going to Dallas? I like Dallas, that JR dude was so cooool, too bad they shot him.

I agree that the past is the past, yet on practically every thread I read on here, someone brings up 18-1 or spygate. Yes the patriots lost to the g-men, last time I checked this was a JETS forum. As for the spygate comments and all this BS about the patriots being cheaters,

there's no denying the pats cheated, but does everyone honestly think it helped THAT much. With or without that film, the patriots were a great team. And lets not forget the tripping incident from Sal Alosi a few weeks ago, IMO that is far worse than filming a practice.

Huh? What? I'm sorry. I'm not getting this.

Please, allow me to "dumb" this down for you, I forgot I'm not speaking to New Englanders anymore. The topic of this discussion is something to the effect of "do patriots fans really think this years team is better than the 07 team."

I posted that this is a completely irrelevant question. Someone then asked me to "define relevance." I then responded by saying my impression of relevance was how relevant this is to the upcoming game between the patriots and the jets. It makes perfect sense, *if you are somewhat intelligent*

Depends, African relevant or Indian relevant.

Does anyone know which type Groucho shot in his pajamas?

I can see pros and cons for both teams.

The 2007 offense was so good that they became victims of their own success. They had so much talent offensively that they became less reliant on coaching, strategy, and game planning. They threw the ball so effectively that they fell in love with the passing game and sacrificed the benefits of a balanced offensive attack.

The 2010 team doesn't have the explosive talents (Moss) of their 2007 counterparts but I believe they are strategically superior in a number of ways. First, this team doesn't have the talent and experience for our coaching staff to allow to just "wing it". This team succeeds b/c of the work put in studying film and exploiting mismatches. In other words, this team requires much more coaching than the 2007 team. Because of that we've become a team that has been remarkably balanced. Not only in our run/pass ratios but also in how the ball is distributed to a number of different players and also in the variety of formations we use. In 2007 it was shotgun all the time. This team plays more like the 2004 squad in that we utilize a variety of different formations. And with the running game being a legitimate threat this year, the play action game has been huge for us as well. Add it all up and I would say that we are stylistically and strategically much better than we were in 2007.

The defense of the 2007 team was better but they were on the downside of their run. We had a lot of veterans that succeeded with guts and guile but were quite limited athletically. This 2010 defense is much more athletic but isn't in the same ballpark in terms of experience and know how.

You ever try to get T-time for Wed at 10pm in January?

Ok this is old. You took what I said way too literally because you are simply looking for something to call me out on. When I said "this time next week" I meant next wednesday, not 10pm. Although I should have clarified.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy watching your severely overrated team get destroyed while Tom Brady points at every single member of the jets team. That should be fun, no? I'm sure you will be throwing the remote at the TV and slugging beers to compensate for the pain of not being able to back up all the talk.
