Mavrik
I'm willing to bet a Matt Nokes rookie card that they don't.
mbn007
Adding guys like Casey and Randa will help, but there are major questions on the pitching staff. Also, except for Jason B., there is not that much power.

Latinlawyer
I can feel it. The Seton Hall Pirates? Who are you talking about...? Once, a long time ago there were some teams that played called the Kansas City Royals and the Pittsburgh Pirates...they actually won games but those times have come and past.. They are now extinct from the national scene...they more like placeholders now. LL

The Gun Of Bavaria
Pirates are improved but I agree with LL, teams like KC and PIT will just never make it in this day and age. MLB needs to look to the runt of the US professional sports litter, the NHL, for some solutions.

mbn007
Yeah, they will go from a .357 to a .380 winning pct. LL I'll bet they hit .444 this year.

Maxman
No way, .500 baby, can't be stopped. If the Pirates finish over .500 this year, I will setup a new Pittsburgh Pirates talk forum. Talk Pirates Here...PirateMania is running wild!
Sharrow
Jason Bay hits 40 home runs this season. Burnitz right behind him with 35. Hell Jack Wilson might even get 15. Ownage. Can't be stopped.

Can't be stopped. Jeromy Burnitz will be lucky to hit 25 home-runs. Enjoy his 150 K's, though.
Sharrow
A-Rod, Abreu, Chavez, Cabrera, Soriano, Teixeira, Manny, Jeter: something in common? All struck out more than Burnitz in 05. I'm not saying he's anything that special, but 150 is a bit of a stretch, imo.
mbn007
I think 150 Ks for Burnitz is well within his reach. So are 30 HRs. It is a stretch to presume Bay will hit 40 dingers though. And the pitching leaves much to be desired.
