Continuing to re-shape his offensive staff, Jets coach Todd Bowles has fired offensive-line coach Steve Marshall, the team announced. Marshall spent the last three seasons in the position. The offensive line was wildly inconsistent last season. The Jets finished 19th in rushing and 24th in sacks allowed. They could have interest in former Bills offensive coordinator Rick Dennison, according to the NFL Network. Previously, Bowles fired OC John Morton.

The Jets have signed former BC Lions LB Micah Awe to a reserve-future contract. The CFL team released Awe, 24, from his contract a year early so he could pursue the NFL. He attended school at Texas Tech and signed with the Bucs last year as an undrafted free agent. (He didn't play in the regular season.) Listed At 6-feet, 220 pounds, he made 54 tackles in his one season with the Lions.

Prospective free agent Kirk Cousins, appearing on ESPN's "NFL Live," gave his assessment of the Jets as a potential landing spot. "With the Jets, the first thing that stands out is Jeremy Bates has a connection to coach [Mike] Shanahan," he said. "Both Mike, Kyle [Shanahan], that whole system I played in. Sean McVay comes from that tree. I just think so highly of them as play callers, as offensive gurus if you will. Because Jeremy comes from that tree, it would be exciting to think about working with someone like that, knowing how important Xs and Os and game planning is and having the right play caller."

Leonard Williams is basically the Jamal Adams of the front seven. A good player; nice guy, young, definitely not the problem, but not a game-changer. The fact that Jamal Adams had as many sacks at Leonard Williams isn't great, especially considering Williams' personal goal was to have a sack a game.

In an interesting twist, Leonard Williams had more interceptions than Adams last year, so this defense is all sorts of ****ed.
