Thinking about this another way... Which would you choose:

1) Swap out Adam Gase for a proven coach not named Bill Belichick (or similar).

2) Swap out 3 of our current OL for proven (but not elite) players.

Would anyone really chose option 1 right now?

Which proven coach?  What OL players are available?

Just a reminder, the fashion show new uniform celebration was the most popular thread on this site by far, for the last 10 years.

That's your fan base.

Funny thing is that when Parcells came here first thing he did was go retro on uniforms and brought the alumni in to instill pride in the history of the franchise.  The new unis look like the “lost years” unis that he replaced.  Can’t make this stuff up.  Problem wasn’t the unis, it was the sh*tty team that hasn’t been to the playoffs in a decade.  But boy, those black unis sure are cool! Yeah, right

It's a hypothetical.  Without becoming elite, when it comes to protecting the QB, would you rather an upgrade at coach from Gase or an upgrade of talent on the offensive line.

I agree on some points. Parcells did change our uniforms back to the original and did have a "fashion show" in NYC though.

I felt Mangini was accountable and had a smart team. Just too much like his former boss, or so he thought.

Since Rex though, its really gone down hill and fast.

Agree on Mangini.  Rex was good at certain things but his players were often lazy and unprepared at times.  Lots of blowouts.  Now mind you, not as bad as now.

You said the solution was to add blockers.  We were sacked 8 times last game.  So, you'd need to be adding blockers on a lot of plays to compensate for that.

Adding blockers would be one solution  to buy more time for Sam. It would be part of the protection package,  not the only part. Other things they can do are designed roll outs, QB options, Jet plays. We don't  do any of this stuff

The thing is, we have to give Sam some plays where he feels confident  he can get the ball out on his terms. Right now all we are doing is running the same crap hoping the OL can block someone they haven't  blocked all year

You watched the game.  Do you really think the difference between overwhelming pressure/8 sacks and Darnold having time to throw is a TE chipping an outside rusher?  I wish it were that easy.

no but at the same time the sacks build on themselves.  if the jets do nothing to try and stop the outside guys then the defense gets emboldened.  aren't the outside guys supposed to set the edge first?  if there's no edge threat they just come on in.
