If you’re “running bad”, don’t think this is the type of game to get off the Schneid.  Lay off.

Jets/Cincy teased to +9…Easy.

My local guy is now offering 13 point teasers at -120. Have to make 4 selections. Had only ever seen as high as 10 point teasers prior.

2 team teasers are always thought of as sucker bets and statistically they are, but you can do really well if you pick your spots (meaning you don't have to play EVERY week).

4 teamers, even with all those points, really Are sucker bets because it's very tough to go 4-0 even with all those points, the math against you is overwhelming worse than a 2 teamer..

Get yourself an online account and have some fun, there will be 6 point teasers on there, and if you're still a kid, word to the wise, "there is a reason the Bookie's wife wears a mink coat", if you can make a living "beating the number" you'll be in a very small group, the computers that make that number in Vegas have costs in the billions with Every Variable in a specific game loaded in to make it, how high the blades of grass are, wind is out of the southeast at 17 mph, one Kicker doesn't do well with that.  Case in point, I had Rutgers last Saturday +39 1/2, Ohio St won by 39 haha, are those machines incredible?

Just have fun with it and don't gamble any money you can't afford to lose, pick your spots and if you're smart about it you'll have some extra coin in your pocket.

Yeah, been doing it for a little while. I have an offshore or 2 as well because of the state I'm in. Learned I'm very bad at regular NFL sides and totals so I don't bet them. NHL, CBB and MLB in that order. With that 13 point teaser I'm 1-1 on the year but had to eek some of them out. Had 2 MLB totals lose by .5 run last week. Those hurt worse than the ones that weren't close, lol.

"You can eat your betting money but never bet your eating money."

And avoid parlays and teasers.  My son-in-law got sucked into a parlay with that 50% DK boost tonight.  Tried to explain the math to him and why they constantly offer "parlay boosts".

Great and accurate quote.

You shouldn’t exclusively make exotic bets (parlays, teasers) but parlays should definitely be played as a distant second to straight action, because that’s where you really score when you hit.

Also, Underdogs should be more than 50% of your play, especially baseball.

The dumb money consistently eats chalk, which skews the lines, ever so slightly but works for contrarians.

Very sound - I get the feeling you have been around a horse track or two.

It really does take discipline and now with online - it takes that feel of money out of play which is really dangerous.

When I would go to the track I had actual money in my pocket so it made it very clear what was happening as I was losing and more important what I had is what I had. There weren't ATMS's or other sources of getting additional money.

Online it is simply deposit more whether that is coming from a bank account card etc. That is very dangerous.

Indeed.  And clicking on "deposit funds" when you always have $$$ in your checking account does not have the knot-in-your-stomach feel of walking to the ATM at a casino.  (You should only go to casinos where you have established credit line anyway.)

He hit 3 of his 4-leg parlay.  Now I'm trying to explain why "I should have only done a 3-leg" is not the correct response to this.  I don't think the leg he lost was his 4th-add as well.

Thanks.  Yes, since I was about 14 years old.  That’s I think the toughest game of all to beat, horses, but I have a few great stories there too, although overall I’m not a winner at it.

That’s all about atmosphere.  Beautiful spring day, out at Aquaduct or Belmont in the summer…..nice time, win or lose (as long as you’re smart set limits for yourself and don’t lose too much).

Started going at 10 - if we ever catch up would love to hear those stories.

Some of my fondest memories and life lessons happened at the track.

Overall - I am not a winner either but I look at is as entertainment dollars.

Not a big parlay guy but the occasion of when i do one it is amazing how Vegas creates these specifically knowing there is that one leg that simply is not going to hit.

A few buddies of my son love parlays and will be 8-10 legs. I simply tell them go outside - light the money you bet on fire and you will get more enjoyment and less agada.

Lol, I followed absolutely nothing in this thread. I’ve never even put a coin in a slot machine.

There are enough bettors here that we should add a separate "sports betting forum" for those of us who like to chat about it on a regular basis.  Won't work if it's buried within the Fantasy Sports forum.  Totally different animal.  @Trotter @Jet9

You’re probably right, although I’m certainly not suggesting that you guys should stop or that it somehow bothers me or anything close to that. I’m more remarking on how ignorant I am about the whole thing.

I think you would find the responses during live games entertaining even though you do not wager.

For example, if you were following the thread and it is the steelers/Browns game from a few weeks ago where the Browns score a td in the last 9 seconds because of that dunm a_s,  stupid, assinine play, my response alone while it cost me $500 would have you going to sleep entertained.

Nah, I was the guy who was hurting your Justin Jefferson TD prop because I took the Adam Thielen Under which of course was going Over and taking targets from JJ. Lol
