PFSIKH
Except with mo it's lasted for 2 weeks not a whole season. Wrong. Beckett has started 38 games in his Boston career. 22 have been quality starts. Now, he is no Johan Santana, but he is shaping into the pitcher Sox fans envisioned he would be. A good young pitcher with alot of potential. Did he struggle last year? Hell yeah. It was well known he did not listen to Tek and over relied on his fastball. In a strong hitters league, you cannot do that. He did and was torched, but he did show flashes of potential. The best thing, he is 26 and the Sox have him locked in. Will he win a Cy? Probably not with Johan and Halladay in the same league, but he will be a solid innings eater that is good enough to win 17-22 games every year in Boston. That is your problem. Things are not in black and white. They are mainly gray.

Jetsfan80
You just see things in white when they involve boston players. What did you want him to do, take a "half-glass empty" approach and say that 16 of his 38 outings were NOT quality starts?
Bob
Rivera's not done, and Zippy's opinion is to be summarily dismissed, but I do hope there's a guy in the system who can step up by 2009.

I think Bruney could do it. As long as he keeps his walks under control he has the stuff to close.

MasonJet
This is why you don't say HOF'ers are "done" after 3 bad appearances. Mariano is just fine.
MasonJet
Bump. Funny how little action there's been in this thread since yesterday's game.
