Jetsfan80
Here are my all-star teams: AL: C- Jason Varitek (clear cut choice here, no other AL catcher comes close) 1B- Mark Teixeira (best competition; Konerko...Teixeira also easily bests him) 2B- Brian Roberts (not only the best 2B, but one of the best overall hitters in the game...poor Jorge Cantu, distant 2nd) SS- Mike Young (beats out Tejada; better D) 3B- Melvin Mora (**** A-Rod) OF- Vlad Guerrero, Manny Ramirez, Carl Crawford (Vlad and Manny easy choices, Crawford gets 3rd spot due to pure speed and defensive capabilities) DH- David Ortiz (just nips Travis Hafner for the spot) NL: C- Michael Barrett (all-around solid year at a weak position) 1B- Derrek Lee (no comment necesarry) 2B- Chase Utley (less AB's than Jeff Kent, great rookie numbers gets my vote) SS- Felipe Lopez (breakout year for Reds SS, takes injured Clint Barmes spot) 3B- David Wright (pure homer pick, but he has had a great year) OF- Bobby Abreu, Miguel Cabrera, Andruw Jones (Abreu finally gets his due, Cabrera and Jones simply posting the best numbers along with him...just missing; Jim Edmonds, Jason Bay) DH- Albert Pujols (2nd best hitter in the league this year behind Lee) Thoughts? Barton
Maybe one of these days, they will let you ride the full-sized bus to school. Maybe, but the AL is still a way better league combined than the NL. Jet/BosoxFan
Johnny Damon over Carl Crawford...and thats not even me being a homer, Johnny deserves to be there ahead of Manny and Vlad. Tek + Johnny + Manny + BIG PAPI, also Matt Clement and Mike Timlin ought to be going as well...now that's representation!!! For once, EB got it right, the AL team rules! Can you say homefield advantage at Fenway this Ocotber? Im just nervous about A-Rod being on the starting roster. I mean...there is something on the line here, and we all know what he does in a big spot!

Last year if they didn't choke the Cards woulda gave them a beating as well. Stick to the NFL Draft EB.....just kidding.

Sheff, Randy, Schill, Vlad are just a few names that have jumped ship from the NL to the AL after 2003. I mean just look at those NL All-Star lineup that 80 has, they can't hold a candle to the AL. The AL is still superior in the outfield. Vladdy and Sheff are better than any NL outfielder. I really wish the all star game was after the season, so all these 1/2 season wonders wouldn't make it. The AL is still superior in the outfield. Vladdy and Sheff are better than any NL outfielder. I really wish the all star game was after the season, so all these 1/2 season wonders wouldn't make it. Man... this reaks of ignorance. By the by, Derek Lee is batting .379. Carlos Lee is only batting .274... but has 72 RBI's and 22 Homers. Both, clearly, deserve to be All Star Starters. 1 Vladimir Guerrero 2 Miguel Cabrera 3 Johnny Damon 4 Moises Alou 5 Brady Clark 6 Bobby Abreu 7 Garret Anderson 8 Jason Bay 9 Grady Sizemore 10 Hideki Matsui That's the top ten outfielders, according to batting average. Obviously, alot more goes into it. But, that splits it down the middle, 5 for each league. So, I guess they're rather qual, in terms of outfield talent. Oh, and the NL has Albert Pujols, who is the best player in the game. So, I guess they win. And I happen to be a Tigers fan. Oh, and on that, y'all do know the All Star game is in Detroit, right? So, mix in a Tiger or two... Bonderman and Inge are the two potential All Stars.
