this thread was going nowhere anyway.. nothing to argue about with Revis..

From the article linked in Post #1:

As for Revis, he has some talented counterparts in the Jets’ secondary, including fifth-year safety Kerry Rhodes(notes), a big hitter with star potential. With all of its talent in the defensive backfield, Rex Ryan’s team might be able to endure the season-ending knee injury suffered by nose tackle Kris Jenkins(notes) and make a playoff run.

I will now say on behalf of JiF (aka Kerry Rhodes Superfan#!: )Ifukinh8u.

Count in the rule changes for contact several years back and this was inevitable.

Yep.

It's an interesting development:

--The NFL started to become pass happy when, ironically, 2 of the greatest QBs ever (Elway & Marino) were at the end in the late 1990s.

--The Cover 2 became prominent to counter the emphasis on passing, which led to the decline of importance of the cover corner (since the scheme can make use of lesser CB talent).

--The rule changes, as you mentioned, put a dent in the Cover 2 because these lesser CB talent weren't allowed to make up for their lack of skill by grabbing WRs.

--Which led to an increased emphasis in acquiring athleting DBs as safeties, CBs, and NBs.

Nope. It doesnt matter what anyone says. CTM thinks Kerry Rhodes is awful and CTM's word is the gospel. Therefore, Kerry Rhodes is soft like doodoo.

BTW anyone know that commercial where whats his face on Oakland picks off the ball intended for Cotchery. Its for the AFL 50th year merchandise.

Well that part of the commercial couldn't have been any more backwards. It was like the exact play but Revis was coming down with it.
