Who is Cream? Do they play music? How old do you have to be to go to a concert like this?

Cream was the original super group from the late 60's. They played a blues mix of music. And, you have to be old enough to actually appreciate that music. I know a couple my age that do.

Oh, and they actually plug their instruments in :P

I'm glad you had a great time, GG!

Excellent gg.

These were the MSG shows, right? After 30+ years of not playing together they did 3 at the Royal Albert Hall last spring and 3 in NYC this week.

I got the RAH dvd a couple of weeks ago. The guys can still play.

What's impressive to me is their decision to not have back up musicians on stage with them. It would have been easy to add a keyboard player or additional guitarist to fill out the sound. Instead they went with the original power trio, raw as that may be at times. Was it the same at MSG?

I heard these shows were sold out for a long time.

I was there last night...that show was fantastic!

Ginger Baker was terrific, I'm just glad he didn't fall off the hand truck when they brought him on stage.

Jack Bruce sounded pretty good for a guy who just had a liver transplant.

What can you say about Clapton that has not already been said, I did enjoy the wah wahs on Tales though. =D>

I know somebody asked for no lyrics, but these ones are pretty cool.

Pressed Rat and Warthog - written by Ginger baker and Mike Taylor

Pressed Rat and Warthog have closed down their shop,

They didn't want to - 'twas all they had got.

Selling atonal apples, amplified heat,

And Pressed Rat's collection of dog legs and feet.

Sadly they left, telling no one goodbye.

Pressed Rat wore red jodhpurs - Warthog a striped tie.

Between them, they carried a three-legged sack,

Went straight round the corner and never came back.

Pressed Rat and Warthog have closed down their shop.

The bad captain madman had told them to stop

Selling atonal apples, amplified heat,

And pressed rat's collection of dog legs and feet.

The bad captain madman had ordered their fate.

He laughed and stomped off with a nautical gate.

The gate turned into a deroga tree

And his pegleg got woodworm and broke into three.

Pressed Rat and Warthog have closed down their shop,

They didn't want to - 'twas all they had got.

Selling atonal apples, amplified heat,

And Pressed Rat's collection of dog legs and feet.

Cream sucks.

The band, that is.

Really???

That's kind of harsh for 3 virtuosic musicians near the top of their creative careers (late 60's) and recorded some stuff, now getting together and playing some music that's still thought of by many music fans as pretty good.

What kind of stuff would you recommend?

thanks,

d

VG - I'm amazed you'd make that statement. They were right up there with the best of them in the Brittish Blues/Rock invasion. Clapton speaks for himself, but Jack Bruce played a wicked bass and was a classically trained chellist- he also wrote alot of Creams music.

Ginger Baker was in bad shape 30 years ago, but sounds like he's rebounded and he could always pound with the best of them. Their covers of blues classics like born under a bad sign, rollin and tumblin, spoonfull, and crossroads were best in class.

GG and JW - I'm really jealous you got to see them but thanks for the update.
