BroadwayJ667
DECATUR, Ga. (AP) --Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested early Saturday in Georgia on a drunken driving charge, sheriff's officials said. The former Super Bowl MVP and reigning "Dancing With the Stars" champ was booked into the DeKalb County jail just outside Atlanta at 3:41 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence. A jail official said he was released on $1,300 bond, though the sheriff's office website said his bond was set at $1,000. The discrepancy couldn't be immediately resolved Saturday. The sheriff's office said it had turned over paperwork to the courts and couldn't release any further information about the player's arrest. A Steelers spokesman did not immediately respond to a message, and it was not immediately clear if Ward had an attorney. Since being drafted in the third round out of Georgia in 1998, the 35-year-old Ward has been a four-time Pro Bowl selection and won two Super Bowls. Dancing with professional partner Kym Johnson, Ward in May became the second professional football player to win the "Dancing" crown after Emmitt Smith won in 2006. He bested actresses Kirstie Alley and Chelsea Kane to become the season 12 champion of the TV celebrity dance competition. Bugg
Gee, somehow all the moralizers like Mike Lupica who wanted Braylon Edwards burned at the stake for the same thing are nowhere to be found. Also wonder if those same people will now say Mike Timlin runs an out of control NFL team, which is what we heard about Rex Ryan. Truth is neither Timlin nor Ryan can follow 53 grown men around 24/7. Simple fact is while it's a bad thing and he shouldn't have done it, neither should miss a game. Thankfully no one was ghurt. If they worked for the phone compnay no one would care. It has zero impact on their ability to do their jobs,a nd their jobs as receivers in thr big pciture do not impact the safty of others. Might be different if they weree an airline pilot or a cop. The only surprising thing is someone with this kind of money doesn't get a driver or call a cab.

73andMe
Hines Ward went to the University of Georgia and is pretty much revered in Georgia. This incident happened in Georgia. Hines must have been really "tuned up" not to get off or at least be driven home, not that it would have been right to do that. Thank God no one got hurt and the whole thing will probably be played down by the media. But God forbid this should happen to a NY Jet. We wouldn't hear the end of it. Where's the equal playing field?

People won't say jack about the Steelers or Tomlin, probably not even Ward because the Steelers are above reproach. For years they were quarterback knee hunters but no one called them on it. Bleedin Green
You guys are missing the greatest news out of all of this. I've been told at least a dozen times this offseason that a DUI is worse than anything Santonio Holmes has ever done his entire life. Considering how the Steelers felt about Holmes actions, that means the Jets should be able to trade for Ward for no more than a 7th rounder, right? Barcs
and because this is the off season, he won't miss one snap come sept Ehhh, tons of other NFL stars have had the same exact thing. I firmly believe nobody should be suspended until a conviction is made. Edwards was taken out for the 1st series against the phins that day, which is probably a higher punishment than any NFL star has ever gotten for DUI. FloridaJetsFan
Oh those kookie Steelers!! Talk to one of their blindly following fans and it's no big deal - if a Jets player does that? THUG!!!!! F' em! Just remember how the Steelers fans were hating on Rapelesberger UNTIL he takes them to the Super Bowl, then all was forgiving. F'ing hypocrites!! Bleedin Green
DUI >>>> Cock Shots and Weed Are you really arguing that? Perhaps that's true, but my point was more directed towards those who have recently felt the need to act like a DUI is some immortal sin only ever committed by Braylon Edwards that is justification for banishment from the NFL as a whole, because it fits their argument. The fact is the Steelers aren't going to give even the slightest crap about this. Honestly, I don't really care all that much about any of this crap, and the only reason I ever held Holmes weed issues against him is simply because of its affect on his ability to play. The fact is there's a lot of dumbasses in the NFL and you just have to accept it as a reality, as we saw under Mangini what a roster full of choir boys gets you.
