That Nets Playoff thread where Tom talks to himself

His foot is screwed up to the point where he can barely walk, so there's that.

The guy was terrible in ATL too, was shocked when they offered him that contract, and was equally shocked when the Nets traded for him. Nothing more than a role player IMO.

I love this Chicago team, btw. I can't recall ever seeing a team with more heart or guts. Good for them, and good for Thibideau. **** Derrick Rose, however. Dude needs to do some soul-searching.

Meh. Nate Robinson can get ****ed sideways with a snow shovel.

LOL @ Joe Johnson, dude is straight trash. Who the hell OK'd that trade?, worst contract in the league IMO.

Congrats to the Bulls.

They were forced to make the Joe trade to placate Williams so he'd re-sign. Gross, but necessary-ish. As the poster gqluvx pointed out, the Nets only hope of improving the team is by trading Humphries' expiring $12 mil. Really sucks. It's one thing to go out to a more talented team, but it's another thing to go out because you got outworked and your "elite" center gives up a million layups and putbacks because he's a ******* girl.

Lopez surprised me, he really has no help down low. I can't put the blame on him. If they retain PJ, then IDK what to say.

Really surprised Nets lost at home after winning game 6 in Chicago.

Johnson may be hurt but he killed the Nets this series. Also, LOL, T0m, give Brooks a break. He was still the best Nets player for the series. The Nets need a shot blocking + rebounding PF rather than just a rebounder.

As to Garnet, money isnt an obstacle for Nets, but he still has 2 years on a killer contract. Nets could put together a package for him.

No breaks for Brook. The dude scored a bunch of points, but was invisible in every other aspect of the game except for a five minute stretch to begin the third quarter, when PJ obviously got into his ass at halftime. If homeboy wants to be paid like a star, he's gotta play the whole game. The amount of easy buckets the Bulls got in the paint was embarrassing. That's why I'd love to see Garnett come in here somehow--to teach Brook about manning up in the paint on every possession--not just on the ones where he has the ball in his hands.

Final notes:

1. PJ isn't going to work here. The scuttlebutt is that he made a conscious effort to not lose his cool on his players in order to not alienate them and earn a new contract. The second he signs a deal, PJ will start screaming and Deron will choke him out. Deron can take hard coaching, but he doesn't tolerate abusive, Bob-Knight-style treatment. Him and PJ would last about two weeks before the revolt started.

2. Rumored to be interested in coming back to coach: Jeff Van Gundy. He'd be perfect here, as he'd have a big man and a point. He'd drive the team nuts with demanding defense, but the personnel here can play exactly how JVG wants--half-court, inside-out, then defend with scrappers like Wallace and Evans. He'd also be good for Brook and Deron because he's a tough coach who doesn't scream.

3. Joe mother****jng Johnson was so injured and dejected last night that he ended up at the 40/40 club chilling with JR Smith. True story.

4. The Nets will have a mid-level exception to sign a player (Pierce?), and they have a dude in Europe--Bojan Bogdanovic--who compares favorably to Dan Majerle: shoots, tough, glue guy. He had an Achilles injury this year, though. Also, there are two guys on the bench who will get more time next year--Toko Shengelia and Mirza Teletovic. Both can score (allehedly), but neither really defends. Good times.
