3:41 p.m.: The Patriots could be close to acquiring some help on the defensive line. The Patriots and Eagles have had conversations about a trade for nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga and are close to a deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Sopoaga, 32, is a nine-year veteran, spending eight years in San Francisco before signing a three-year deal with the Eagles during the offseason. The Patriots desperately need help against the run, especially in the middle of the defensive line, as it’s been a weak spot since Vince Wilfork suffered a season-ending Achilles tear.

highway robbery.

Patriots acquired NT Isaac Sopoaga and a 2014 sixth-round pick in exchange from the Eagles for a 2014 fifth-round pick.

ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported that a trade was close. In the first season of a three-year, $11 million deal, Sopoaga was struggling for the Eagles, but provides some much needed heft up front for the Patriots. He'll be tasked with shoring up the Patriots' run defense in the absence of NT Vince Wilfork. Sopoaga's acquisition is a sign DT Tommy Kelly (knee) isn't close to a return.
