Rex vs. Bellichick Record Comparison: 78 Games Each

You don't think he seriously overestimated what Sanchez was?

You don't see that as a serious, serious problem?

I think this is more mythology. The Jets, as an organization, were tied to Sanchez for those first three years because of the trade to acquire him, the contract paid him, and the fact that he actually did QB the team to the AFC Championship Game in his first two years in the league. It was the third year that he demonstrated that he clearly wasn't getting any better, and another option needed to be found. His boss responded to that need by trading a fourth rounder for currently out of the league QB Tim Tebow. Rex sat Sanchez for Greg McElroy, currently on the Bengals practice squad, because he had nothing else.

People love to quote the, "he gives us the best chance to win," line like it's some sort of damning evidence against him, but the fact is that Sanchez did give him the best chance to win. He probably would've given the team the best chance to win again this year.

Patriots duck out early to go to the movies

2013 AFI FEST - "Lone Survivor" - Arrivals

AP

The Patriots spent part of today watching film, but it wasn’t all of the Ravens.

According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, coach Bill Belichick juggled his schedule to take his players to the movies.

They saw the new movie “Lone Survivor,” which is actually about a group of under-siege Navy SEALs, and not, as you might think, about Tom Brady’s receiving corps.

Their last field trip was also to see another Mark Wahlberg movie, “The Fighter.” Such trips are more common during training camp, but breaking the routine can help keep players focused as the regular season draws to a close.

Hmmmmm

Clearly "Lil Bill" is stealing Rex's game preparation techniques.

What option did he have at QB? What option does he have under his new boss?

Your post has no content because you can't actually dispute the content in mine.

Your delusional about how the franchise has worked since Tanny has been GM.

If you think Tanny was the one making the QB decisions and not Rex, you really have no clue.

Let me ask you a question, do you think the bears GM will make a unilateral decision with Cutler?

He'll no! He will make the decision with Trestmen, who will have major, major input on whether he thinks he can win big with cutler, and whether he is worth the money and the cap ramifications of signing him.

This is how it works, you live in a fantasyland where GMs make ALL personnel decisions without major input from the coaches.

While it was wrong, your boy Rex had more say than most when it comes to personnel, but every HC has major major influence, and they have to.

Why didn't Rex have a better option at QB? Sanchez's numbers never nose-dived, they were static. If your QB is 30+ starts into his NFL career and isn't improving, then you better stash an alternative. If you don't, it's your funeral. Fact is, Rex has had five training camps. 500 players have crossed in front of his face, and he couldn't find more than a handful that can play. That's on him.

It is damning evidence, small-minded and stupid.Carroll saw it with Fllynn and Wilson; stop throwing good money after bad.  It's what a fool falls back on instead of seeking other options. because, because, because, incapable of conceiving other options much less trying them. As with McElroy last year, had to be dragged kicking and screaming by buttfumble incompetence. And this year refused to follow through. Smith has done NOTHING to justify keeping his job. NOTHING. May be Simms does suck. We do know Smith sucks. Not knowing if Simms can play for the last month is criminal. And perhaps if you simply made the move we might even be in postion for the 6 seed.

Seriously though how many coaches get 5 years in a position in any sport? With a team that has regressed over that period

Rex took a weaker team in 2010 to the afccg than he had in 2009. His boss gutted his entire roster like napalm in vietnam with no vision for the club at all. The fact that the team was even in contention for the playoffs this year is remarkable. The roster especially on the offensive side is full of losers, who arent good enough and wont go the extra mile. Thats about as much on the coach as the formula 1 driver trying to win the grand prix with a ford focus. The most decorated team in the nfl, the steelers, have given all of their coaches time. Winning doesnt happen overnight. The fish stunk at the head- the gate keeper- mike tannenbaum. I want to see how Rex does after a couple years of a new GM. We need to be consistently trying out GM's until we get it right. We havent had a competent GM in 15 years. If rex was drafting as a gm thats fine then to criticize and blame, but tht is clearly not his job so u have to compare the results with what hes been given and then i cant see how you can hold him accountable. When we get one pro bowl playmaker and we keep sh*tting out then come back and can the coach. The guy on the team who scores the most points is my neighbor the ******* kicker.

Apparently, the smartest part of you went down the toilet as you are going full retard.

So your moronic point of view is that talent does not matter. It is a red herring. Ok. Yet, the poorly thought out article you are using as the base of your argument is about how talent, one Tom Brady, has made Belichick. :rl:

The fact is, to use their numbers through 78 games and not look at all the factors that impact a team is f'ing stupid. Rex took over a good team. Belichick took over a horrible team. 9-7 > 3-13 in each and every book even the ones for the hopelessly clueless like you. Belichick made the Browns better. Rex took over a good team and it has regressed. And if you do nto think his last season in which Model announced moving the team, go watch A Football Life on the Browns last season as Browns 1.0.

The ultimate point is, Rex had a much better team to start with, a free agent system that can assist teams to get better quickly and all he has after 78 games is a four game lead.

**** you. See the post above

Year one, they trade up to draft Sanchez, the team makes it to the AFCCG.

Year two, they make it to the AFCCG again, and again, Sanchez plays better in the playoffs than he did in the regular season.

Year three, they miss the playoffs, and Sanchez is looking worse.

It was at that point that the team should've started seriously looking for an alternative, and they were rumored to be interested in Manning. Instead, they wind up extending Sanchez and trading for Tebow. That was where the screwup at the position took place.

In the fourth year, Rex sat Sanchez for McElroy, because there was no one else to turn to. Tannenbaum is fired.

In year five, his new GM provides him with Geno and Garrard. Hot dog.

30+ starts into the kid's career, he had four road playoff wins under his belt. It's revisionist to suggest Rex was supposed to make a change at QB any sooner than his fourth season.

Even if this is true (and there's no proof that it is), it doesn't matter if John Idzik is a capable GM. He only needs Rex to cook the meal, not buy the groceries.

They also base their vote for President on the crucial question of which candidate they'd rather have a beer with.

I'd love to have a beer with you, and I know we share some similar politics, but I wouldn't cast a vote for you in the local dog catcher election. :D

slats is busting up T0mNoShAme... it's like watching Pennington trying to make points against Rex's defense... almost feel bad for the little fella

Haha, then why the neg rep, dude?
