Lots of hate for Idzik today on a national level

In that case, IF the plan was to save for 2015 then I dont see how you could fire Rex Ryan and/or blame him for a sh---y season. AND it would've been nice to share that plan with the fans, especially the season ticket holders. Lol

And idk, it may just be a superficial assessment, but I just dont see how Revis for one year/12 mil and Cro for one year/ 3.5 mil---whp both wanted to be here-- could possibly , on any planet, have been a bad deal. Right? lol I would like someone to explain it to me. It almost seems like a joke. And there's no way that Rex Ryan could have been cool with that, which shows how bad he's been castrated this year. Its not even the same RR that went to the AFc championships.

Three years ago Revis and Cro anchored a defense that was lacking up front. Now our strength is up front and we cant find acorner back. haha idk

And just to ice the cake, the Pats grab him.

If revis truly presented to Jets as 1 year deal with zero signing bonus you are 100% right.

We don't lack talent?  What are we starting at WR and CB?  They have started numerous guys that they have cut and remain on the street.  Nobody is banging down the door to sign Lankster or Lewis.  Adams, Walls and the rest are not much better.  Allen is okay, but he is a safety.  Nelson was on the street for weeks last year.  Salas, Powell, Graham and Owusu?  These guys are ALL bottom of the roster guys.  When you go five deep at two different positions with guys that should be at best 50-53 on a roster you have a talent problem.

*LMFAO at JAGs in the defensive backfield showing Ryan's fingerprints.  If there is one thing Rex loves it is corners.  Everybody knows that and everybody has said it, from Billick on down.  If anything, he would have paid Revis and DRC.  I'm fine with not doing that, but Dimitri Patterson was apparently as bad as he seemed and we gave him $3M.  Nice job, yep all Ryan's idea I am sure.  Even Shane isn't this full of sh*t.

At WR Decker/Kerley/Nelson/Salas + Amaro/Cumberland at TE + Johnson/Ivory/Powell at RB would be MORE than enough pass-catching talent......if the QB wasn't a pile of steaming dogsh*t.

At CB we're weak, no doubt about it.  We're also thin as hell due to injury.  Injuries happen.  Milliner + McDougal + Wilson/Allen/Walls is certainly not all-world, but it should have been good enough, especially with our bagful-of-#1-picks D-Line.

You can't fix everything in one offseason, and some GM's plan for more than just the next year.  Agree or not, hate it or not, it is what it is.  Rex WILL be fired, Idzik will not, and Idzik will finally get HIS "fair chance" at picking his own Head Coach to suit his GM style, not Rex Ryan's 1972 System.

P.S. The fact "he would have paid Revis" is why he needs to be gone.  He would have happily handed over more than what the Pats paid (and he would have had to to get Revis back, be assured of that) and Revis, here, would be just as risky and liable to be hurt as McDougal or Milliner were.  Except we'd have 16 mil less cap room to work with.

Woody is the only reason Rex got year 6 (and might get year 7).  Woody is fine, has never, even been "cheap", and it a perfectly average NFL Owner.  You NY'ers have no idea, try Dan Snyder or Jerry Jones on for a try and see what you think of Milktoast Woody.

As for the rest, it's the same old same old......to believe in Rex Ryan, you must think every other person associated with the NY Jets Franchise the past six years is literally the worst person at their jobs ever.

That's called unrealistic blame deflection.

We do not lack talent.  We lack a decent Head Coach and decent QB.

"Give him a real chance".  What a joke that is six years in.  What a joke that is given we all know Ryan's had a hand in personnel (and probably more of a hand that we know).   This sh*theap is Ryans teams, more than anyone elses, his stamp is all over it, front the vast overspending on the D-Line and reliance on JAGs in the D-backfield, to the focus of RB's and more RB's, and all some folks want to do is blame everyone BUT the architect and master of the team himself.

Did you really like his foot fetish videos and derpy dipsh*t media persona that much?

Lets presume it's not everyone else for a change and dump Ryan, and get a professional NFL Coach in instead of a clown car who belongs teaching high school kids.

Mike Tannebum was horrible. Idzig has been horrible. Bradway is still here. (Revis, Cromartie alone...) Brian Schottenheimer couldnt have been to great if Mark Sanchez would rather sit on the bench in Philly than join his old pal, with whom he went to an afc championship.Tony Sporano was terrible. The talent on the offense in the last four years has been a joke. His qbs have been Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith.

So, basically we could keep a coach who missed 2 SBs by a game with no offense and no pass rush and TRY to hand him a talented team or we could let Idzig take us to the promised land.

The only thing Woody hit on was hiring Rex. He may well be finished. He may have run his course, but this mess is not on him alone.

I agree with everything you stated, except for the "we do not lack talent" comment. If you can't see that this team isn't completely devoid of talent at WR, CB, OG x 2, TE, QB, and RB, then I just don't know what to tell you. We don't have anyone that's dynamic on the offense. Literally not one person on this team that's capable of going the distance on any play. We have a couple of nice backup running backs. A couple of guys that can run the ball 10-12 times a game and not embarrass themselves. But nobody who can be relied on to start.

By definition, this team absolutely lacks talent everywhere, except for the defensive line and a linebacker or two.

Lol...

1) We most certainly lack talent, most specifically in the most important part of the modern game. Passing the ball and defending the pass. Which 10 teams have less talent then us?

2) You mention lacking a decent QB as if it's a throw away. How many good teams can you count that lack a QB that even qualifies as decent? The current outliers like Buffalo and Arizona will almost certainly not make the playoffs

Hahaha.  That is even funnier.  McDougle seemed okay after a few practices.  Handing him a starting job is an abomination.  Decker is more than enough?  They had one starting level WR and a borderline slot.  Nelson and Salas are practice squad level players and you are listing them as "more than enough?"  Pick a team with worse talent at WR.  Can you name two? The TEs are bad and can't block. The fact that Rex would have signed Revis is irrelevant.  The coach is not supposed to make those decisions.  Those contracts are on the GM, but to say Rex formed the roster and went with these CBs is ridiculous.  To use it as proof of his influence on the roster is quite possibly the most misguided comment I have ever read on this board.

I admit Im only looking at their 2014 salaries, but I have to think the rest could've been worked out. Especially since they both wanted to be here. Oh well......Doesn't matter now. Lol This should be exciting..

More than enough talent for what? Lol

And you're right, its much better to have 12 mil in the bank, collecting interest, than a one year deal for a guy who was the best in the league three years ago.

Where did the "16 mil" come from? Creative license?

the mistake was 'Letting it ride' on such a chancy player. They needed to draft another QB, high. Worse case they have 2 great QBs and can trade one. Instead they have no QB and no chance. Idzik treats Geno like he's a top 5 pick (that he got at some amazing steal price) instead of the Browning Nagle/Kellen Clemens second rounder that he actually is.

The minute geno got he he was treated like the savior not a 2 Nd round pick that's the problem! If he was just like any other 2nd pick but the jets pushed him on us as great so this is what you get

The sad thing is Idzik will be back next year and he'll hire some assistant from Seattle and pass on Winston to draft a Safety with a top 4 pick. This franchise is a waste of time.

agree, he will hire a asst from Sea UNLESS Woodrow is able to land a big fish on his  own with pure overpaid cash (harbaugh, cowher types, not saying get cowher, but u get my drift). Cowher lives down road from Greenbeans and I, and everyone I know who knows him say he is done, done , done. Lost his wife via Cancer, kids now married, he/them in raleigh, he lives quiet life here in raleigh, u see him out all the time  at stores, Canes NHL games, restaurants etc and no one bugs him. It would take a boatload to get him, and his rule hasnt changed,, he wants no GM (unless report to him as Coach/Prez), he is 100% in control and basically only wants a Pro/College personell guy reporting to him.

I'd rather have mariota then winston, but it would be hard to pass on either if Geno continues his path

Jets on the other hand have a horrible record with the draft and the 2014 abomination is the icing on the cake. It's incredible that a GM could do such a hideous job and bomb almost an entire draft like that and then come back the next year so he could bomb the next draft. We're not drafting a qb - we can always sign Kyle Orton to "push" Geno or Brett Ratliff.

I don't Cowher to coach. I want him to GM. Nobody has a better record than the steelers the last 20 years draft-wise.

Cowher wasn't the GM. So if you want Cowher based on the Steelers draft to be the GM than this all falls on Rex then.

Or a better way to look at it. Cowher and his staff knew how to coach and develop his players.

And. Cowher is done. Boomer Easison said so today. He's remarried and loving his life.
