Red Sox are seriously reloading.

Red Sux are winning the AL East next year.  NY Sports cannot be miserable right now.

If Cashman was smart he would have waited until this year to sign either Ramirez or Sandoval to play 3rd and make Arod the full-time DH instead of signing Beltran last year.  Now we have 2 full-time DH's Arod and Beltran and really a third in Mark "I can't play through injuries" Texeira.

Baltimore with their healthy roster is going to be tough

it all depends on Tanaka

and if we land Scherzer  (if we don't i'll be pissed)

The problem is we still have to score more runs than the other team.  Our pitching was actually very good last year even after Tanaka went down but our aging lefty lineup all you have to do is that double shift to the right side of the in-field and it's over.

Next summer is looking more and more miserable. Forget about the playoffs I'm not sure if this Yankee team will be able to win 80 games next season.

dont agree, if healthy (understand thats a big if) i dont see why this team cant compete for a playoff spot. Too much talent albeit aging talent on this roster, and thats before they mAke any offseason moves.

They'll compete until late August when they're mathematically eliminated.  The Yankees are starting to look like the early 2000's Knicks.  Load up on bad contracts of aging players.  The Beltran and Ellsbury contracts unfortunately paralyzed us for the next couple years.

Even in baseball, and even for the Yankees,.the millions remaining.on overpaid guys, ARod, Ellsbury, McCann, Teixeira not to mention guys with injuries, CC,.Tanaka total stiffs like Beltran come back to.haunt you...

In the old Steiny days, you could sign Scherzer, King Felix, Hamels, Kershaw and Trout since there was no tax on a 60O million PR and you could afford...but that tax, the reduced revenues from YES, debt service on the new park,.not to mention those large areas of empty seats in the multi hundred and four digit seating areas make those days impossible today

Ellabury is overpaid but his contract doesnt kill us if hes out there everday. Beltran one is different. Its stoping us from trading for say Heyward, Upton , Bruce ect. His contract, along with Teixeira, ARod, CC's are reasons why I want regorup for 2-3 seasons and not sign anyone to deals longer than 2 years or 3 years so when all tht money comes off the books we can go for it again. And hopefully by then we have some homegrown players playing a large role.

Cashman is the problem.  He's never had to deal with a cap and he and his staff aren't good enough at drafting and developing young talent in the farm system.  Even with the luxury tax threshold there's no excuse for the Yankees not to have a wildcard playoff team at least.  The CC contract makes the Arod contract look good in comparison.  Arod's contract wouldn't be that bad if he was allowed to be a full-time DH but we now have Beltran on the roster who is virtually incapable of playing outfield anymore.  We had to sign McCann he actually had a decent year second half last season but the Beltran and Ellsbury contracts were just brutal.  Now Cashman is going to compete with himself and give Robertson and insane contract.

Mets might be a playoff team next year.  Welcome back to the 80's.
