Arthur Blank is going to dump Dimitroff and Pioli so he can hire Rex, Rob Ryan, Jeff Weeks, and Dennis Thurman?

Should he get interviewed within the first 5 questions Ryan needs to be asked why he dumped Pettine but kept do nothing drinking buddy Weeks.

FWIW, JetsBabe Esola was just tipped off (apparently) that Rex is going to be offered the Falcons job tomorrow.

Tuesday’s Rex Ryan interview with Falcons could spark the hiring process

Even before word emerged that the Falcons had interviewed in-house minority candidate Keith Armstrong, the word was trickling out that Rex Ryan’s Tuesday interview with Atlanta could spark the 2015 hiring process.

Now that the path has been cleared via the Armstrong interview to hire anyone, don’t be shocked if Ryan becomes the head coach in Atlanta not long after he talks to the Falcons.

This assumes that the interview will go well enough to make the Falcons want Ryan, and that it will go well enough for Ryan to want the Falcons.

The Falcons should want Ryan, given what he can do with a defense that desperately needs a kick in the butt.  Ryan should also want the Falcons, since they have a franchise quarterback and a pair of guys who helped Bill Belichick put together a team that won three Super Bowls in New England.

So six years after Ryan declared upon becoming head coach of the Jets that he doesn’t plan to kiss Belichick’s rings, maybe Ryan will land in a situation where he can win one or two of his own.

And if the Falcons pluck Ryan off the unemployment line, look for some of these other coaching searches to heat up as teams get nervous that their preferred candidates may soon be gobbled up by someone else.

Rex made the mistake of his life by taking the Jets HC job instead of the Falcons, six years ago.  He came to a division with one of the greatest QB of all time, a team with no QB and to top it off, the worst fans in the nfl.  I hope Dan Quinn and todd bowles doesn't make the same mistake.

Sanchez going to Philly was a nice story in the same way that the BatKid thing was a nice story. Rex going to Atlanta just guarantees us a full year of the entire country pointing and laughing at the Jets as the Falcons go 10-6, Marrone coaches the Bears to 9-7, Dan Quinn takes the Raiders to the playoffs, and we're stuck with Jim Mora Jr mumbling into the phone with Michael Kay every week.

Breer tweeted the deadly "Marrone interviewed poorly," this after both Mort and Cimini reported that the interview went well. This comes on the heels of Maccagnan (the GM with most ties to Casserly/Marrone) interviewing today. My suspicion is that Woody, in his infinite wisdom, didn't like Maccagnan, so he's scrapping the whole Marrone idea because it's unpopular, and now they're going to go back to Quinn. If it's true that Rex is getting Atlanta, Quinn is going to have his pick of jobs, with those other teams starting to panic. and the Jets job is a dumpster fire. If they don't want Maccagnan, and other GM candidates are backing out, it could go full nuclear over the next 48 hours.

And this is why they shouldn't have fired Idzik after 2 years on the job.

So what is the equivalent for Rex as Falcons coach? Picking in the teens every year?

imo, Rex has a few years before his act wears thin, like here. If he does his usual, leave the offense alone and field a top defense.. Falcons will be a tough out

I don't think we are going to do worse then Idzik tbh

Maybe not, but Idzik likely delivers you Quinn or Bevell, and there's some continuity there. If the pieces fall out to the point where they've burned bridges with Marrone and the GMs that Quinn wants to work with, I don't see how they recover. The Cleveland guy? Then he goes out and gets Teryl Austin?

Nothing worse then having a crappy GM imo, it's a talent driven league and if your guy can't find it., you are screwed.

Woody Johnson, ladies and gents. Casserly is on his second bottle of Jack right now.

yup, the last 13 months starting with the twitter poll every major decision ( bringing Rex back, firing Idzik, Marrone debacle etc etc) has been made by mehta…Mehta owns the Jets…we are truly screwed on an epic level.

Meh. We'll find out how bad those drafts were next year. If Milliner is healthy and isn't asked to be Revis on every down, they'll look a lot better.

Dimitrofff and Pioli are as we speak drinking moonshine and smashing office equipment in their offices.

Johnson if he doesn't go with Maccagnan/Marrone will have on 2 consecutive occasions within 2 years hired professionals to help find a management team. And then completely disregarded the paid professional advice in both instances."Didn't interview well" I suspect is code for "guy doesn't want the owner creeping around 24/7 when he's trying to do his job". Johnson doesn't like confrontation; most good football coaches at every level are gonna be brutally honest. This apparently is verboten in the kinder gentler confines of Florham Park. Johnson thinks he's running some kind of athletic day camp instead of a pro football team. Which is how you end up with happytalk BS artists like Edwards and Ryan and bland corporate buzzword suits like Bradway and Idzik.

Cannot be stated strongly enough that the biggest problem the Jets face will always be Robert Wood Johnson the 3rd.Serious football people have figured it out. The guy has never run anyhting spare his bank account, and this franchise is a plaything for this spoiled brat. The man is a freaking dope.

WE'RE DOOMED.
