In a stretch of 13 consecutive games without an off day, the Yankees are considering a sixth starter to give their rotation an extra day of rest this turn. So far this season, scheduled off days have let Tanaka make each of his first three starts with five days of rest instead of four. By inserting a sixth starter, Tanaka could stay on that schedule for his fourth start as well.

Please don't trade him. Enough with this. Beltran is gone after next season we will need another OF

Williams is a CF, his tools don't translate to RF. No power, average to below average arm. Aaron Judge is primed to take over for Beltran in RF. Other candidates who we could see before Judge in RF is Ramon Flores, Slade Heathcott (has a cannon for an arm) and Tyler Austin. All 3 are in AAA.

Jake Cave is another guy in AA Trenton who I think is a better prospect than Williams, he too is CFer. He;s actually been starting over Williams in CF, with Williams playing most ly in LF.

GOOD MATCHUP: No Yankees hitter has more at-bats against Alfredo Simon than Mark Teixeira, and Teixeira is 6-for-14 with a home run against the Tigers’ starter. The current Yankees have collectively hit .297/.373/.453 against Simon. Yankees starter CC Sabathia’s had success against this current group of Tigers — they’ve hit .226/.286/.377 against him — but he’s had real trouble (no surprise) against Miguel Cabrera. In 29 at-bats, Cabrera’s hit .345/.417/.621 against Sabathia.
