[+] Enlarge Kellen Micah/ICON SMITrading Haloti Ngata freed up $8.5 million of much-needed cap space for the Ravens. Terms of the trade were not disclosed. The Lions get their replacement for Ndamukong Suh, who was expected to sign with the Miami Dolphins after the 4 p.m. ET start to free agency, and the Ravens free up $8.5 million of much-needed cap space. Ngata had a team-high $16 million cap figure. The Ravens were attempting to sign Ngata to an extension, but the sides never got close to a deal. Ngata, 31, is a five-time Pro Bowl player who had been the foundation for the Ravens' run defense. He had his best season in recent memory last year before getting suspended four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. nycdan
That seems really cheap for Ngata. Has his play fallen off the table the past year or two?

Beerfish
That seems really cheap for Ngata. Has his play fallen off the table the past year or two? Similar to the jets deal for Marshall. Large contract, older player = low picks.
Smashmouth
That seems really cheap for Ngata. Has his play fallen off the table the past year or two? 31 year old with a huge cap figure 16 mil is not going to get more than 4th or 5th ...We paid the same for Brandon Marshall who is 30 and had a cap figure that The Bears wanted to get rid of so maybe that's the going rate ? Thai Jet
Seems like a good deal for Detroit. They needed a replacement for Suh ,while the rest of their D was decent, and they got it done.
