rangerous
gruden has turned down offers from the rams, 49ers and dolts. he said his excuse is the cba which probably means he feels there are too many restrictions in the current cba to effectively coach a team. of course he is pulling down about 6.5 million from espn. Larz
most weeks he witnesses sloppy play, it would drive him nuts to come back. working the booth is the job of a lifetime, you get to be around the game and have a family life,

RutgersJetFan
Good. Jon Gruden is the best thing the NFL has going for it on TV. Losing his commentary would be a god damn national tragedy.
Joe W. Namath
Coaches get soft in the booth. You cant get that chip back. Guys like Cowher and Gruden need to stop being mentioned every year. They are done.
TuscanyTile2
Clearly he is holding out for the Jets' job.
jeremy2020
Gruden just enjoys the annual slobberfest over his nuts to boost his ego. He's not coaching again.

Certainly possible and being in the booth is easy money for him (no pressure and far less work). I still think there's a shot he's coming back somewhere though (college or the pros) if the right offer presents itself. We'll see.
RoadFan
Some of you just don't seem to get it. Gruden gets paid well as a color guy. He has a life in the offseason, and can spend time with his family. Haven't some of you noticed the toll being a Head Coach takes on one's health? We just witnessed Bowles age 10 years in 4 months. There are HC's having health problems regularly. Multiple hospitalizations. They work 18 hour days in-season... seemingly 7 days a week. The stress is enormous. The job volatility is high, security low. Constant turnover with players and coaches. And his kids, older now, will be subjected to articles and message boards discussing his failures. Why would Gruden want to return to that?!?!
