But they should have the opportunity. There are 3 QB needy teams picking ahead of the Jets- Browns, Giants, and Broncos. I think Darnold to the Browns and Rosen to the Giants is a lock. I don't see any trades happening and I don't see either prospect hurting his stock for anything to change. I don't believe for one second Elway will go after Jackson, even if he tears up the combine, which he will. I just don't see the Broncos doing that. They will probably punt on a QB in the first before drafting Jackson. So Jackson will most likely be there for the Jets. And so will a lot of other great players. Will they take him? Who knows. Probably not. But I think they should. The jets need to hedge their bets and draft 2 qbs. No more crappy veteran journeymen and Petty and Hack have no business even being in the nfl

I'm not as sold on the top two as others are, and Mayfield and Allen both scare the hell out of me. I would go nuts if we took him at #6. Absolutely nuts. I'm with @Lupz27. Sign Bell and draft Jackson. Combine those two with the speed we have at WR, and this offense can be dangerous. Man just get rid of Gase and the 2019 Jets are probably on Sunday Night football the next 2 weeks.
Apache 51
Jackson is the current flavor and narrative of the NFL, maybe he sustains maybe not..........I don't think his buddies want to lay him out.

I’m also not drinking the Lamar Jackson Kool-Aid quite yet. No quarterback in the NFL that runs as much as him has been successful outside of Michael Vick. He's a much, much better passer than Michael Vick. Yes, his running puts him at risk. No, that isn't the only thing he brings to the table. Agreed. The one good thing is he does his best to avoid contact when he runs. Problem is, lots of torn ACL's come on non-contact injuries. Here's a hypothetical question for you. Would you rather have: a.) A guy like Phillip Rivers, who will make your team respectable, contend for the playoffs (fairly) regularly, and lasts a decade+ at the position. The catch being that he will not win you Super Bowl. Or B.) A Lamar Jackson type, who is absolutely electric, but because of his style of play will only give you 3 or 4 good (including one or two great) years with one Super Bowl victory? Without a doubt B. I wouldn't enjoy contending for the playoffs every year knowing my QB isn't good enough to get us over the top. That's Penningtology. Guys like Philip Rivers and Matt Ryan frustrate me to no ends, and they're not even Jets QBs. I can't even imagine how much I'd hate them on the Jets. This was my biggest criticism of going all in on Baker. I don't want the high floor/low ceiling guy. Go for the high ceiling every time. I would take a QB that has 0 yards passing and wins one Super Bowl and then never plays again
