nj meadowlands
CINCINNATI -- Carson Palmer's knee injury was "devastating and potentially career-ending," involving numerous ligament tears, a shredded ligament, damaged cartilage and a dislocated kneecap, his surgeon said Thursday. Holy sh*t.

Terrible if this kid can't come back, he really was the real deal and was just great to watch.this is worse then anything thats ever happened to the jets if it really is carrer ending. the jets have never had a player as good as carson palmer no1 and no2 they have never had a player like that have a carrer ending injury. joe willie in 71 is close but that was only for a year... Green DNA
In the next breath the doctor says he should be ready by the start of next season. How is that possible with a potentially career ending injury? That's two opposite ends of the spectrum. Maybe he wants to be known as a great surgeon. RSJ
I wonder what this does to the availability of Kitna. The available QB list is shrinking.

Bergen Jet
While Kitna isn't the answer, he would be a decent person to bring in to compete for a job. The answer at QB just isn't out there. With the situation in SD the way it is now with the Brees injury, the only appealing option that may be available is Volek. So, while Kitna isn't the direction we want to be going, he is sure better than a lot of the alternatives that have been tossed around.

This is true, however I don't think the Jets need to settle for a guy that just OK. We need to shoot a little higher if possible. I never thought I'd bring myself to say this, but if we are going to aim low, we already have Bollinger and I think I would keep him over Kitna. (did I just say that? )

I don't care what Carson Palmer was coming out of the draft... and remember your original point, you said the Jets didn't have anyone close to having a career ending injury...maybe you're too young to remember, but it was touch and go there for awhile whether Byrd would live or not, let alone ever walk...his career was definitely over that day. And he was the anchor of our D line...now, whether you think Palmer was better than Byrd, that's your opinion. I happen to think that if Byrd continued his career with us, he would have been one of the best linemen we ever had.
sirlancemehlot
A shame to go down with an injury like that. A bum knee, I mean it's so cliche. Give me an exploded elbow capsule--now that's an injury I can get behind.
