And some others who think we should trade a 24 year old 2-time Pro Bowler with two years still left under contract for only a 1st. 3 2 1

CrazyCarl40
Still a better deal than Trumaine Johnson.

For $13MM per year and a pick, not sorry we passed on him I think it's a good move by Denver. They need an experienced CB badly. The big UFAs will come in at $16-18 mill with hefty signing bonuses and guaranteed money. Trumaine Johnson results are not that uncommon. With Boyue, they get 2 years at $13 each, and not guaranteed, so there's no risk while they draft and develop a rookie. In fact, this is an excellent trade for Denver. Buoye had a pretty cool INT from Darnold IIRC.
#27TheDominator
I don't think you worry too much about the salary. If he really sucks, it probably isn't guaranteed, so they can get it back by cutting him. Thing is he'd have to be real good to be worth it.

Just seems to me like an awful lot to give up, a 4th round pick and $13MM for a 29 year old CB coming off a bad year.

If he returns to pro bowl form then it would be a colossal steal, considering pro bowl caliber CB would now command 16-18 tied to a ton of risk. If Bouye doesn't live up to $13 mill (let alone 16-18) in the first year... bye-bye. Very little risk. much more risk in a 4th round pick. I'll bet they add a CB somewhere else in the draft as well. The Harris era is done. As long as it doesn't strap the cap this year and next, Bouye makes good sense to me.
