Chiefs | L. Johnson holdout continues

Sun, 19 Aug 2007 21:58:22 -0700

Randy Covitz, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson and the team remain at a stalemate over his demands for a new contract. He is working out on his own in Arizona. If his hold out were to continue into the season, he would have to return for at least five games to receive an accredited season, which would allow him to void the final two years of his contract and he would become an unrestricted free agent following the year.

Would he do it?

I don't understand how he was locked up for so long in the first place. He was like the 27th pick back in 2003 & he still has 3 years left on his rookie contract? According to kcchiefs.com he signed a 7-year contract as a rookie. As a freakin' running back. His agent should be shot so as not to infect any more people with his stupidity.

LJ's would have to have severe brain damage to step onto the field without a new contract. 416 carries last year, this year the OL will suck, Herm is his HC, and he missed most of training camp (for whatever that's worth with Herm running it). He definitely WILL get injured this year. If he gets hurt early & doesn't play 5 games he doesn't get to void the last 2 years of his contract. Then he'll still be under his rookie deal at age 30. There's really nothing for him to think about.

well, while we're dreaming...Mine as well dream big right?

LJ leaving KC is a real situation... and NY would be a great place for him... he loves to train hard and lives in NY... he also wouldnt get killed by splitting some carries on 3rd down with Leon...
