Led Zeppelin

Living Loving Maid

To use musician's vernacular, Bonham was a bitch of a drummer with devastating foot pedal technique. Check him out on this classic from Led Zep II. He's kicking you in the gut on every 2&4 beat. Awesome drum master. Nobody hit/hits harder.

I saw them live at the spectrum in 1977. it was a kick ass show, the one and only time I ever saw them. had tickets in 1980, but we all know what canceled those plans.

Alas, I was only 9 when Zeppelin broke up. I did see Page/Plant live at the Garden in '95, and all they played were Zep tunes.

I saw them once at The Garden on their last tour in the US. Was that 1977? Too many years have passed and I'm getting fu**ing senile already. I will never forget Page sliding across the stage as the lights came up during the opening number: The Song Remains the Same. Awesome night.

Getting back to Bonzo, it's sad that he was dead about a year after that Knebworth show. The following is what I have always considered to be the quintessential example of Bonham's astounding drum technique: When the Levee Breaks. He's just hurling bombs. You feel like a boxer having gone 15 rounds when the tune's over.

I don't think they played the garden in 1977, or maybe I'm going senile. I would have definitely gone to the garden rather than that crap hole spectrum.

Bonham playing live is what puts him apart from anybody else. he's actually better live than in studio, which is unfarkin real.

Mott the Hoople

All the Young Dudes

(Ever wonder what I look like? (What else could you be thinking about?) As a young man, a dead ringer for Ian Hunter--nose and all--in this vid. That was my hair style up until I got a real job. During the disco era, people thought I was a complete freak/maniac. I just could never let go of the R&R vibe. Even my wife just freaked out at the resemblance. I saw Mott eons ago at the Uris Theater in NYC, the first rock concert on a Broadway stage. Guess who opened? Queen, on their first trip to the States.)
