Bob
Yep. **** him and **** Girardi for running him out there. Not that Pettitte and the offense exactly lit it up. They left plenty of RISP on base.

The Yankees offense should have scored a minimum of 8 runs tonight and barely got off 5. Most overrated and overpaid offense in baseball.

Zeebers
This is probably the type of game, opponents of Joba moving to the rotation will point to. One Run lead after 6, bring in Joba for 2 and have Rivera close it out. Right now the Yankees have no trust worthy setup guy.
anskyruben
While the offense missed out on many run scoring opps, 5 friggin runs should be enough for a QUALITY team to win a game. This whole team is a steaming pile of dog crap.

Here's the thing, opponents of Joba starting want him to stay in te 8th inning role b/c that's what he's had success in so far. If that's the case, Joba doesn't pitch tonight b/c Andy, who had been pitching well, gave up a tying homer in the 7th to make it 5-5.
JonEJet
Making the move right now with Joba is a recipe for disaster No reason whatsoever to make the change, when in reality we have no decent replacement for the guy Granted if we make a trade, or moreso one of the kids steps up you make the move This move is a Hank move...and that is the real issue....that is the real problem
124
You could argue that Kyle Farnsworth for all the games he's blown that he was a worse pick-up than Carl Pavano or Kei Igawa. Sure they didn't do much when they pitched, but at least they didn't blow so many games. F YOU FARNSWORTH!
MasonJet
How has Farnsworth managed to be on this team for a 3rd year? When has he ever been good?

Joba Chamberlain did not debut until August 7. The Yankees were "making their run" well before that. Even if they did make their run largely when Joba was the set-up man, that probably wasn't the sole reason. Let's just rest all our best starters and save them for the 8th... Eh, the bullpen sucked ''just like this'' until Joba showed up. and how is he one of their best starters? how many games has he started as a Yankee? you don't know how he'll do as a starter yet. so lets just jump to conclusions rather than sticking with whats been working. MagicBizkit87
Hey you can trade Farnsworth to the Mets for Heilman. How about Yankees send Farnsworth to the Mets for nothing, and we move our own way into the direction of our in farm relievers (Cox, Melancon). Anyway, I personally am not putting the full blame on Farnsworth. This team is horriable when they have runners in scoring position, and when they actually had leads, Pettitte blew two 2 run leads, and a 1 run lead. shawn306
Farnsworth should be nothing more than a "We give up" Pitcher. The only time he should see light of day is when the Yanks are so far behind they have and have no chance of getting back in the game. At this point I would rather see Pavano coming out of the pen than Farnsworth.
Barton
Time for Edwar to take over the 8th inning. Yesterday was a winnable game in many ways, I dont blame just Farnsy. But I still think we need a big RHed bat and a lefty in the pen (Marte).
Matt39
We all know Farnsworth blows. 3-16 with RISP is inexcusable. LIke Pete said, the Yankees should have had at least 8 runs last night.

You don't put a guy with four plus or plus-plus pitches in the bullpen. You just don't. He's dominated starting at every level he's ever been at, which suggests he can be dominate at the major league level as well. Don't relegate him to 8th inning status until you see what he can do as a starter.

As a matter of fact he looked awful. Your only point is that his pitch count was low. Giving up 3 separate leads in a game, would make you believe he was not having a good night. I would say there is a good chance Joba would have been called upon to pitch the 7th and 8th and an even better chance he'd be coming in in the 8th in a tied game.
