Where was I wrong? The Yankees are paying the guy $22.5 million a year..............guaranteed. Have fun with that.

1.

Umm.....I'm going to fault the Yankees for paying over market value for both ARod and Texiera.

The other 29 teams didn't bid against themselves like the Yankees did.

Obviously the Yankees didn't pay over market value, since more than one team made offers ranging from $160-$184 million for 8 years.

They did. The Sox bowed out on December 19th. The Yankees signed him on January 5th. Boras and Tex took the money. There is nothing wrong with that.

Do you really believe the Red Sox bowed out?

I do. The current ownership doesn't give players 8 year deals. The last time they gave a player that kind of a deal was with Manny when Duquette was calling the shots.

The Sox don't have an endless supply of revenue like the Yankees do so they look to the future when offering players huge money.

Obviously the Red Sox didn't bow out, they where talking to Boras the day Teixera signed with the Yankees.

And obviously the current ownership where willing to give Teixeira an 8 year contract ranging from $165 million to $170 million.

I don't see an offer for $180 million from the Red Sox. What is your point?

If the Yankees don't win the World Series this year it will be an epic fail.

Boras has done well in the past. This season the owners are telling him to go F himself.

The Red Sox didn't want to sign Teixera to an 8 year contract. The Yankees did for a guaranteed $180 million. $22.5 million a year.

True. Problem is Boras doesn't seem to recognize that the economic conditions have drastically altered the market. What teams did at the time of A-rod's Texas contract and now are 2 different worlds. Nobody much cares for his SABR-centric analysis of selling his clients unless salary is tied to expected production. The era of silly contracts is over.

Will we start seeing players not even thinking about hiring him as their agent?

From what I've read a couple of teams won't even talk to him and he currently has Manny and Varitek as clients who are still unemployed.

The Dodgers had a 2 year, $50 million deal on the table for Manny in November and Boras shot it down.

The Sox also had a $8-$10 million 1 year deal on the table for Varitek and Boras shot it down.

Thoughts?

I'd love to see this POS loose every one of his clients. I know he won't but I can dream can't I. ;)

:rl: You obviously have no clue but just like to babble on.

Do you have anything productive to say, or are you just here to flame?

If that's the case, and you have nothing to contribute, I'll go ahead and ignore you, because I'm not here for this childish nonsense.

He told Tek to turn down a for sure 10-12 million in arbitration. He'll be LUCKY to get half of that.

Great call. As we saw today Tek will make $5 mill next year with a club option for 2010.

Its a win for the Sox, as they wanted him back, and a big loss for Boras and Tek.

It's incentive driven now just like the contract Pettitte signed several days ago.

The key is that the incentives don't kick in until 2010. If the Sox decline the 2010 option then Varitek can except it for a guaranteed $3 mill and all the different incentives.

They where also VERY interested in Mark Teixeira, he's in pinstripes now.

I'm not saying they will get him definitely...if Posada's arm is shot, I doubt the Yanks will promote within unless someone really steps up and big. So, they could be in the bidding as well...this guy (Mauer) will command big time bucks.

Mauer will be your catcher in 2010.

That is why they go get him next offseason before he hits the market.

Make a deal the Twins cannot refuse.
