Blackout
that much money for a guy who can't play defense or steal bases anymore?? he sure is a clutch hitter though.

Surprised it's not the Pinstripers. Especially since they've been lacking a major league SS for the last five seasons or so.
PFSIKH
I guess we know what the Sox think of Xander Bogarets.
CrazyCarl40
I guess we know what the Sox think of Xander Bogarets. Yeah. He's the SS of the future and Hanley Ramirez is moving to LF.
PFSIKH
Yeah. He's the SS of the future and Hanley Ramirez is moving to LF. I hear you. My problem with the singings is that Xander was coming around when Drew was signed and struggled for three months after the trade before a small rebound late. Hanley, Pablo and Rusney are not being paid to sit. If Hanley is penciled in at LF and Rusney in CF, what about Cespedes? Craig? Nava? Victorino? Betts? Bradley? I do not hate either move, but lumped together it means we are putting a developing player (Xander, Betts, Holt, Bradley) or a lot of money on the bench (Victorino). WWWWombat
3-player platoon for 2 positions imo. Probably a good idea given the durability concerns with both Hanley and Sandoval, but I don't like paying $20 mil/year for Sandoval (assuming the rumors are accurate). I will be pissed if we don't get Lester.
CrazyCarl40
Betts RF Pedroia 2B Papi DH Hanley LF panda 3b Napoli 1B Xander SS Castillo CF Vazquez C Then you move Cespedes and Victorino for whatever you can get SP wise. You don't trade the young guys like Betts and Xander. That's not what you do.
Morrissey
Looks like Lester coming back for $120-140 million as well Sox back to their big spending ways.

No.... everything the Red Sox do is pure and noble and full of grit. You're so cynical.
Blackout
Hanley in the OF?
vincenzo69
Hanley in the OF? I think it's only a 4 year deal for a player like Hanley is a bargain. I would have liked Cashman to sign Hanley to play SS and eventually move to 3rd for us with Arod becoming a full-time DH.
