Mike Francesa sez Rex Ryan DEMANDS BLOOD on 9/11

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- New York Jets coach Rex Ryan doesn't want to see any violence in the stands on Sunday night.

But that doesn't mean he wants to see any Dallas Cowboys jerseys in the crowd.

Ryan drew harsh criticism from several media outlets for comments he made Wednesday afternoon, which were thought to discourage and scare Cowboys fans from attending Sunday's season opener between the two teams at MetLife Stadium, which also marks the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

"I don't know why they'd be here," Ryan said. "They're coming into our stadium. It's probably not recommended that you wear your Cowboys stuff, I would think."

Ryan said Thursday, however, that his comments weren't intended that way.

"Well obviously, if it was taken that way, that certainly wasn't my intention," Ryan said. "There's so many guys that I've butted heads with probably over the years, I don't know which guy that is, but either way I didn't mean it to come out like that, if that's the way it was taken."

Recently, fan violence escalated in San Francisco, where a brawl between 49ers and Oakland Raiders fans during an August preseason game resulted in 70 ejections, 12 arrests and two parking lot shootings. This spring, San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow was beaten into a coma by a pair of Los Angeles Dodgers fans because he wore a Giants jersey into Dodger Stadium.

"I don't think our stadium needs to have visiting color jerseys," Ryan said. "I want to have our stadium filled, and if it's somebody else coming to enjoy a game, that's fine. I'm not calling for our guys to do anything; the safety of every fan is important to everybody in this organization, including me. But would I not prefer to see another color jersey? Absolutely. I would love to see our stadium just in our colors."

Cowboys fans have historically traveled quite well to East Rutherford -- especially when they played the New York Giants at Giants Stadium.

"We have a fanbase now where these tickets oughta be hard to get, and Jet fans aren't gonna give their tickets to the Cowboys fans," Ryan said. "I don't see our fans doing that."

Still, Ryan wants to see the stadium entirely green and white.

"Yesterday I touched on I don't want to see a Dallas Cowboys jersey. I don't," Ryan said. "We want our stadium to always be green and white. There's no doubt that's what we want in our stadium."

The Jets and Cowboys last met at the Meadowlands on Sept. 28, 2003, with Dallas coming away with a 17-6 victory over New York.

If you read this and happened to listen to his show at all today, Mikey turned the rhetoric meter up to a 10. He claimed that with all the violence that has recently occured(oakland/Dodgers game) that Ryan is being irresponsible. While that statement may be mildly true, we know that Rex wasnt saying "give me a cowboy fan to sacrifice." The point Rex is enforcing is we all wish that our stadium was a little louder and more of a home field advantage a la Denver/KC. Bart Scott was quoted earlier saying a good fan base should have a stat of how many false start penalties it helps cause. Fatcesa had the phone lines swirling with callers saying how Jet fans will have to hire security when they visit other teams stadiumsbecausewe have a bullseye on our back now. Just another example of Jabba the Mikes biased attitude towards the Jets. I think any human with an ounce of common sense would agree that Rex doesnt want blood, he just wants us to make Cowboy fans uncomfortable and boo them a bit. Obviously if someone has a child you need to use discretion and in no way make the game unwatchable for them. I actually have had some pretty enjoyable banters with Red Sox and Pat fans at games and its fun.

It wasn't a politically correct thing to say, I agree. Probably not too smart in terms of Jets PR. But who the **** cares? Not me.

Meh. Rex has made it clear since he arrived that he wants a home crowd advantage, that's all he was striving for -- it was more about telling fans not to sell their tickets to Cowboys fans, than about saying "boogada-boogada-boogada if you come to our 1/2 a stadium we'll attack you".

Wow. Just WOW!!!

Not sure what is more pathetic. This dude or people who actually listen to him on a daily basis.

And considering the great majority dialing up to his show are Giants fans, it kindda makes sense!

He gets way more Jets fans calling in than Giants fans, just saying.

Oh I know and agree 100%. But it's known fact that media whores and haters will jump on anything they can stretch and bend the truth to for propaganda or higher rating/sales. He probably could have choose his words a little more wisely. Not saying he's wrong though. At this point all I care about is the Jets winning games. Newpapers, talk show radio, blogs, whomever, can suck it.

I hope Francesca shows up in a Cowboys jersey and gets his a$$ whooped. Guys, this is typical media blowing crap out of proportion. The 49ers incident is completely unrelated to football rivalry, it was about gang violence. Of course they'll ignore that to push whatever fake agenda their putting out these days. **** Francesca.

That's because Jets fans always focus on the negative.

If I were Rex, I would have said, "hell yeah I want them to get their a$$ whooped", just to get a rise out of those clowns. I would also mention that cornball talk show hosts and reporters are prime targets.

The sad thing is that the media actually believes that most people are zombies, unable to think for themselves. Rex says jump, we say how high!

And you know, I understand that Rex and the Jets want fans to be loud and crazy, but they always play crappy at home. I remember that Packers game I was at, with such terrible offense, how do you expect people to cheer? The fans will be louder when you start playing like you should at home.

First-How many times did the obese radio show host repeat it?

The point was blown by the the Jets PR department and our loveable coach both of whom should have said that with the excitement generated during a football fan and with the recent fan violence that the statement was meant to discourage incitement resulting in brawls and possible injury.

Well there was blood in my section. Tons of Cowboy fans. And in the middle of the 2nd quarter it erupted. Im not sure who brought it in but there was a huge fight and somehow there was a taser gun brought out. It took forever for security to get up there and finally after a good 3-4 min of a huge brawl, security and State police officers showed up. After having trouble settling people down, They chased a cowboys fan down and threw him against the wall to search him for the taser gun (not sure if they found it). Overall 4 cowboy fans were escorted out ( 2 in handcuffs) and 2 Jets fans. In the 4th quarter they did let the Jets fans back into the section. It wasnt a pretty sight and all involved should be ashamed as there were kids all around. And the security reaction was pathetic. It went on way longer than it should especially with a weapon involved. And im not saying this is Rex's fault. Just sharing my experience!
