Florida St. Vs Auburn NCAA championship thread

I've been saying all along, he's a 2nd or 3rd round pick because of the 40 time + age...but his play making ability is undeniable.  He's an incredible Red Zone threat and he's a physical WR who grabs the ball at its highest point.  He's getting drafted and some team will find him very useful.  I hope its the Jets.

I liken his situation a lot to Stephen HIll's; not because of how they play or their skill set, but the fact that I don't think either can suite as a #1 WR with all the focus. Benji has a lot to offer a team, but from what I've seen, if he's going to be the primary focus of the defense, he's too easy to take out of the game.  If you could pair him with someone like Marqise Lee or Sammy Watkins, then you're talking. There's such a volume of high-end WR talent coming out this year, it's not going to be surprising to see him land in the bottom of the 2nd or 3rd, as you eluded.

That's not a TD in the NFL.

That's not the point. He scored 15 TDs this last year, many of which were similar to last night where he just floats in the air with uncanny hang time, then snatches the ball at it's highest point with his ridiculously long arms.  At 6'5, it's a natural height advantage, but with his jumping ability it's impossible to cover.  One of the longest cornerbacks in the league (Richard Sherman, probowl guy) couldn't cover that.

Probably right, but I dont pass on him because you dont have that type of compliment yet.  I think you can use him like VJax.  Line him up where ever and just let him go get the ball.  Maybe he's not a true #1 the way VJax can be...but he's got the similar play making ability and you can utilize him in a similar fashion.

My ideal situation is a #1 in the 1st or via FA (if thats available) and grabbing him in the 2nd or 3rd.  Instant revamp of the offense.

Closer than I thought actually

I'll enthusiastically +1 this.

15 TDs is 15 TDs, and that game winning TD reception was pretty much level with the crossbar of the field goal post, meaning the kid is catching these balls at ten feet plus.  From my perspective he could have caught that ball a foot higher.

Having someone who can catch a ball 11 feet in the air is a huge benefit in the redzone.  Considering we signed a thug turd specifically for this role, I wouldn't rule out drafting a kid regardless of his age.

I can't remember vs. who but he caught a crossing route in the end zone and his hands were literally about to hit crossbar he was so high in the air.

maybe... btw in the NFL he'd get pushed out of bounds sideways before he gets to the plane. Cause there's no force out rule in the NFL (anymore)

I think it's safe to say he'd be a great red zone target for any team which is where he made his name in college (even prior to the BCS). If he's drafted in the 1st or 2nd it's probably b/c he times exceptionally well and they think they can turn him into a more complete player based on his upside.

Ceiling maybe Boldin or Plax-esque (Brandon Marshall?)

Floor maybe a guy like Ernest Wilfork?

Maybe, maybe not.  He's a big boy.

Once you go airborne the physics are the same.

Ernest Wilford is an interesting comparison. How about Marcedes Lewis? He's not without value. but red zone specialist isn't usually a highly sought after player on draft day. He's gonna have to run like a maniac to go rd 1.

Benjamin made a nice catch, but he seemed more like a TE who gets a couple of looks a game, and if they are in the game, he can make a play against smaller corners and defensive players.    But watching him this season in some games,  to me,  he's not a #1 WR.     He's definitely not a first round pick.   If Green didn't have 200 yards receiving tonight,  Benjamin was pretty much non factor all game.

Green got open and he made defensive players miss.   Benjamin didn't seem to get open at all.

I agree.
