Tannehill CBPOY?

I never wrote you were "totally wrong" about anything.

What I wrote is that Tannehill isn't a difference maker at QB. There are probably 20 QBs in the league who could make a title game with the running game and complement of weapons he had this year.

Was Sanchez a good QB because he made the title game twice with the best defense and running game in the league?

I guess you are hanging your hat on the CBPOY award? That's cool. But, I mean, Chad Pennington won that award once. It didn't make him a franchise QB.

But carry on.

Ok. But I just love how the narrative was then "he can never win CBOPY award because he sucks" to now "yeah, well he's still not a difference-maker." At least the needle of perception of Tannehill is moving in the right direction.

Well, getting hurt a lot actually helps a player's chance of winning CBPOY. :)

LMAO.

Ok, I guess you wanted to troll.

Really good point.

Hopefully the Dolphins bring him back this offseason. Why would they bother drafting Tua? There is already a stud on the open market who they know and love!

He still sucks.  And he has this in common with everyone posting in this thread:  He's currently not employed by an NFL team.

CBPOY was never intended to prove a player doesn't suck.

Titans would be insane to let Tannehill go.

You are arguing with the wrong guy. I have never brought up anything regarding the CBOPY award.

It's a feel good award, but has no bearing on the long term viability of a player.

He'll get starter money somewhere for certain. Titans aren't getting a FQB at pick 29 and Mariota is done there. What else would they do? Get a Dalton or trade all the way up in the draft?

Phillip Rivers or Teddy Bridgewater.

I'd advise against going after Brady but it's certainly possible they do that.

This is a pretty good year for going after a FA QB.  Which is rare.

Rivers interesting, actually. Teddy not an upgrade over Tannehill IMHO.

Anyone who takes Brady I believe will regret it.

Twice.  It's the Chad Pennington Award.

Tannehill has a lot of Pennington on the field.  A dink and dunk QB who needs a great running game and defense to win.  Although he seems like a good dude, not a douche like Chad.

Yeah, they are comparable.

And interestingly, Tannehill's "breakout" season this year is statistically similar to Chad's first magical season in 2002.

I'd much rather go to war with Teddy over Tannehill.  And Teddy would likely come cheaper, as I don't think anyone projects him to be an unquestioned starter at this point.

Brees and Dak Prescott are FA's currently as well.  They likely end up returning but you never know for sure.

What would the result have been if you had put down $100 for Tannehill to win CBOTY at 65:1 odds at a sportsbook on 9/23/2018?

Renewed prediction 2019 season when he was a backup at the time but can't seem to find it (something funky with the search feature, had to find this one via Google). Better to be a year off than totally, absolutely wrong about the guy.

How many times did Chad throw 4,000 yards or lead the league in YPA? 0 and 0. That's 2 and 1 time less than Ryan.

So Tannehill benefited from the Titans supporting cast (which didn't look so good with Mariota at the helm) but Teddy is an amazing QB for stepping into the Saints high octane offense and not sucking? Look, I wish the Jets kept Teddy and advocated hard for it at the time but the two are not comparable IMHO. Teddy would be cheaper because he should be. "You get what you pay for."

haha, you mean like you just did 10 minutes ago?

Gotta give you credit, the Tannehill stuff is a clever troll. Did not see this coming. You managed to pick a decidedly mediocre player who was once in the division so you can capitalize on the leftover emotional divisional baggage angle. Very nice touch.

Oh wow. How many times did Pennington have his starting running back average 5 yards per carry?

Also, Chad won 2 CBPOY awards, not one. Get on his level, Ryan!

But this thread, my responses, and your quoting of me had nothing to do with 2019. You were wrong two years ago, you were wrong throughout the year, and you’re wrong today. He didn’t win CPOY in 2018. This is seriously the stupidest flex I’ve ever seen.

Listen.

I will leave this discussion here. But, because you decided to shamelessly troll people over a comeback player of the year award prediction (in the wrong year! LMAO), I am warning you: I am going to troll you endlessly if Tannehill sucks next year. Endlessly. I will start threads. I will probably get banned. But it will be worth it.

He had a good season, I'll give him that. He was on a run first team with an elite offensive line and was a super effective game manager for them. That's probably his ceiling.

I think it’s more than that he led the league in yards per attempt, that says more than game manager to me.

I renewed the prediction for 2019. Again implicit condition of any sports prediction is “barring injury.” But if you want to stick to me being wrong for being off a year, how the heck are those who said it was impossible more right?

Depending on his landing spot next year he could be a pro bowler. I’m sure not many here agree but one thing I can guarantee, if I predict he makes pro bowl many will call me crazy (fine) but then if he does, I will be told that “pro bowl is just a popularity contest” and thus I was actually wrong because he “didn’t actually play at an elite level.” This is how JN moves goal posts rather than just saying “wow nice call I was wrong.”

So you think he's an elite QB? Would you trade Darnold and sign him to a big contract?

I’m sticking to you being wrong because you foolishly quoted me today to take a victory lap about something you were wrong about. Tannehill winning an annual award in wholly different circumstances and in a completely different year doesn’t validate your 2018 post.

That’s akin to posting in 1998 that Peyton will suck and be out of the league, and then taking victory laps about it in 2016 after he finally has a below average year and promptly retires.

I think he has the potential to have a few late career boom seasons ala Vinny T only better. No I wouldn’t trade him for a 22 year old Sam Darnold. But I’m a Jet fan all I have is hope.

When you’re right, you are right. All the people saying it was impossible make it all the sweeter.
