Maynard too. Gastineau is a guy who’s comparable IMO. Short and dominant peak.

Love the enthusiasm but I just don't agree with this and I don't let my opinion cloud my judgement ........so I will let someone I don't like as a player but whom I do respect and that would be Tom Brady answer the question for you....

Tom Brady on Revis.......

https://nesn.com/2013/09/tom-brady-says-darrelle-revis-is-best-cornerback-he-has-ever-played-against/

“I've never played against anyone who is as good as him,” Brady said. “He's as good as there is that I've ever played against, so you just have to be careful when you throw his way because you know he's going to be close. There's no one that's going to be wide open, you've just got to make sure you put the ball in a position where only the receiver can catch it.”

“I mean, there are some great corners I?ve been able to play against: Champ Bailey, Patrick Surtain, and that goes back a few years, but yeah, Charles Woodson, I mean I love the way he plays the game still. But I mean Darrelle is certainly at the top.”

Maynard is a guy who has become criminally undererated by pretty much anyone outside of Jet fans.  Its easy to forget how great he was, and he tends to be overlooked because of the era he played in, and because most of his stats came in the AFL.  But at the time he retired, he had as good a resume as any WR who ever played.  At the time he retired, pretty sure he was the all-tie leader in receptions, receiving yards and 2nd all time in receiving TDs.  He is still top 15 in TDs today.

I remember wearing his jersey to a Jet-Bears game at Soldier Field and a fan asked me when Bears punter Brad Maynard played for the Jets.  This was a Jet fan.

Namath is more notable and more important.  I am too young to have seen Namath play live, but from what I have seen and read he’s nowhere near as good a QB as Revis was a corner.

Namath helped the Jets win a Super Bowl, Revis didnt.  Thats all you need to know.

I was at that game, that was win and you’re in. Last game of the season and last game ever at giants stadium. It was cold that night. Me and @De-Jet-Erate/Duane Snuck in plastic flasks under our skull caps through strict giants stadium security. One of the funnest games I ever went to.

I was there too with my wife, coldest game I've ever been to, we didn't even make it to the 4th quarter before leaving.

I have his jersey and ALWAYS get a thumbs up when I wear it. 13 was a ROCKET. Greatest WR ever to play for the Jets.      MUTE the awful music

We stayed and Mike westhoff and some of the players sharpied some nerf balls for us in the parking lot. My ******* beer froz, I had an ice log come up out of the hole lol it froze right in my hand. We were staying close at a friend/cop who knew all security and we had a President escort in at the last second while we were tailgating at his house. Great game

Only time I got to see the Big R play in person was our game 17 'win and we're in' in Buffalo. Revis just looked so slow and outta shape, a bit portly, and played 10-12 yards off the LOS EVERY PLAY, even on short 3rd downs. Revis was OWNED that game, and we lost, missing out on the POs (even though we were 10-5 going into that must-win game).

I don't recall the name of the Bills QB (a decent one season fill in) or the name of the speedy little WR who owned Revis that game, but that WR owned Revis his entire career, pulling down a TD on Revis every game the Jets/Bills played.

To his credit, I guess, Revis said he played the game/season with a sprained/bad wrist, which prevented him from playing up in press man coverage. If that was the case, he really shouldn't have been on the field, despite his one season $15M payday.

That’s because Brady was told to say that so Revis would go play there next year. Nice try, but you missed again ..
