Maynard is a guy who has become criminally undererated by pretty much anyone outside of Jet fans. Its easy to forget how great he was, and he tends to be overlooked because of the era he played in, and because most of his stats came in the AFL. But at the time he retired, he had as good a resume as any WR who ever played. At the time he retired, pretty sure he was the all-tie leader in receptions, receiving yards and 2nd all time in receiving TDs. He is still top 15 in TDs today. I remember wearing his jersey to a Jet-Bears game at Soldier Field and a fan asked me when Bears punter Brad Maynard played for the Jets. Best players I've ever watched for the Jets are Revis ... then Curtis Martin. I really miss watching great (hell, even very good) players on the Jets. Revis just looked so slow and outta shape, a bit portly, and played 10-12 yards off the LOS EVERY PLAY, even on short 3rd downs. Revis was OWNED that game, and we lost, missing out on the POs (even though we were 10-5 going into that must-win game). I don't recall the name of the Bills QB (a decent one season fill in) or the name of the speedy little WR who owned Revis that game, but that WR owned Revis his entire career, pulling down a TD on Revis every game the Jets/Bills played. To his credit, I guess, Revis said he played the game/season with a sprained/bad wrist, which prevented him from playing up in press man coverage.
