ThunderbirdJet
Well, we're going to skip the turn. And then that would put Bit up next. I was going to see who still wanted to continue the draft. If there's enough, we could just take over the rest of the teams and then get the mock done in quick order. If you can figure out which teams are orphaned, I'll take as many as needed to get this finished.
stormshadow19
Let me see if I can talk to Smizzy and Faba. We'll figure out which teams don't have an owner anymore (Miami, Carolina, Tampa (maybe), San Fran, probably others), and we'll then PM the people who still want to be in this. If I feel up to it, I may try another draft, closer to the actual draft, when I get some time. I haven't figured that one out yet, though. I'll have to put thought into it. faba
It has been tough to keep this afloat to be honest- between working at a real job and missing in action for picks but we all have done the best we can
stormshadow19
No worries, Faba. The guys here... they understand. And, like I said, if anyone's intrested, I can run a mock closer to the actual draft, when I'll have a smidge more time. There's what? 32 teams? I'll probably only take 16 GM's... most likely. Just to keep it organized. And flowing.

MiamiJet
I needed a tight end, but the early run on them left me high and dry. I decided not to reach for one early and filled other areas of need, such as OG and CB, thinking I could get some good value later on. I decided on David Thomas. Excellent hands, runs great routes, has a nose for the end zone. Is a bit undersized, but still a good value to me, having filled so many other areas of need. R44
Martin is an outstanding pick.... Shannahan loves quarterbacks, yet behind Plummer he only has Brad Lee Van Pelt... Martin is a good athlete and really smart -- Almost transfered to the Ivy league (Penn) after leaving Florida. He's an NFL caliber punter, so that's a huge bonus.... He also played some WR at Florida before transferring -- would've probably been an NFL prospect at WR had he stayed there...Could even help on special teams... One of the better athletes in the draft and has a great arm. **
Sperm Edwards
OK I'm done with my draft. My big holes were LT, OG, DB, run-stuffer on the DL, and a #2/#3 WR. Quite a laundry list when the #1 pick goes to a non-need position. TE was a need, and WR2 was a bigger need before the recent Texas acquisitions (Putzier & Walter). Would've liked to pick Brick #1 to fill the obvious hole, but no way Houston does that for real without trading down & how do you pass on HB Reggie Bush with the #1 pick just because you've got Domanick Davis? The analogy I made earlier is that's like passing on Barry Sanders for Walter Jones b/c you've already got Travis Henry. I drafted with the guess that Kubiak will switch them from a 3-4 to a 4-3 defense. 2004 first-rounder DE/OLB Jason Babin should then move back to DE & 2005 first-round DT Travis Johnson should be ready now. Was thrilled to get NT/DT Montavious Stanley in the 5th round. Since they'll still have their huge 3-4 DE's on the roster this year, there's no rush to bring Stanley along prematurely. Turned their secondary from pass-at-will into pass-at-your-own-risk, with CB Antonio Cromartie in the 2nd to go opposite Dunta Robinson, and FS Daniel Bullocks in the 3rd. Got a LT Daryn Colledge in the 3rd round for Carr's blind side. OG Mark Setterstrom in the 4th round is a perfect match for Kubiak's zone-blocking. Even though they picked up Kevin Walter to go opposite Andre Johnson, they still need a #3 receiver and I took a chance on an AFL WR Troy Bergeron in the 6th round. 1(1) HB Reggie Bush 2(1) CB Antonio Cromartie 3(1) LT Daryn Colledge 3(2) FS Daniel Bullocks 4(1) OG Mark Setterstrom 5(1) NT Montavious Stanley 6(1) WR Troy Bergeron Any opinions? ThunderbirdJet
Sperm.... a very strong draft! Good balance of BAP vs. need. Colledge was a great pick.... the Texans were desperate for a LT. He should be able to start. With Bush, the need for another WR wasn't as great. I expect to see Davis and Bush on the field at the same time quite often. Nice job! LOL....Thunderbird, I liked Ham's pick of Martin....But there is another reason for the praise... Ham wanted Andre Hall and sent that to me in a Private Message.......Yet, I handed Hall to Air Force, based a phone conversation we had a few weeks ago.... That's trying to do "damage control" You're draft has been great so far....You've done a real nice job with the Rams... Lawson is a younger version of Leonard Little -- that's a fit.... Ko Simpson is a safety...Rams need safeties... Fasano is a great pick in round 3...super pick Brandon Marshall in round 5 is excellent value.... Good job, I really think you've done well... Well then.... when do I get an invite as unpaid staff at Draft Daddy? J/K! Lawson was a risk pick.... extremely high upside, possible problem based on what and how Linehan uses for a D scheme. It's hard to forecast what Linehan will do on defense.... so Lawson was a sort of compromise. He'd have to bulk up for the 4-3, and wants to be a 4-3 DE from what I've read, but.... he is lightning fast... faster than M Williams. Some people don't realise he was William's team mate, and had more sacks than he did. The thing I missed in drafting for the Rams was a true 3-4 NT.... but they are few and far between. Glover can get by in that role, and Jimmy Kennedy if he stays healthy is a good 3T tackle. I REALLY wanted LeKevin Smith.... but the guys in this draft have proven too savy to let a potential 3-4 NT fall to the sixth round, as I had hoped. I was hoping to go Smith in the 6th, and McPheason in the seventh, but after losing Smith, figured someone would snap up McPhearson if I waited. So, I pulled the trigger on the fastest CB in this draft now. It's been a good draft for the guys that turned out to be serious about it. Not surprisingly, the guys that made sure they got the players they wanted were the ones who showed up when their pick was up. Unfortuanately, that's roughly only about half of the people who signed up. Still, some pretty savy drafters here.... and I thought I could get over on some picks that in the end, failed to fall to me. Overall, I think I did pretty good for the Rams..... R44
Thunderbird, we're basically all "unpaid staff" at DD.com....The hope is always the ads pay enough to defray the server costs and my asprin bills -- due to all the headaches from editing and updating the site constantly Good point on the Rams. They are a team I fear, honestly, doing mock drafts for because I thought I had a solid handle on the "type of players" they liked until now.... With Martz and a whole slew of coaches gone, they are just unknown to me....Personally, unless they show me something draft day, I'd guess they are heading downward -- Linehan isn't real impressive to me.... Garrick McPhearson is a real good 6th round pick...I did a little write up on him in June of 2005....Said he needed a big senior season to move up...He didn't have that big season, but did Okay.....Still, with his blinding speed, he'll be drafted higher than most would expect -- 6th round is good value. Plus, he's the son of a former NFL player.....You never know which fomer buddy of Garrick McPhearson Sr. is scouting or drafting? ************* Stiller Paul, great job.....I love most of your picks, but have to admit Parham's 5.11 40 time at the Combine makes him an unlikely day 1 pick...all your other picks were super-- just great fits!...I wouldn't be surprised if Kudla of OSU plays for you (3rd round??) He's the same height (6' 2") as projected first rounder Tamba Hali had similar college stats, yet chumped him in every workout # Kudla 275 pounds....Hali 265 Kudla 45 Bench press.....Hali a puny 18 Kudla 4.7 40....Hali 4.88 Kudla 37" vertical; Hali 27" Hali overrated or just a poor workout prospect? Again, career stats were almost identical....all the AFC North teams will be after Kudla, mark my word

I took him in another mock. He was REALLY under the radar until his bench showing at the combine. I see him as a high second round pick for a team that has done their homework. He's still very under rated IMO. Hey, R44.... I was just bustin chops! I know that most sites do their best to feed their passion and just pay the bills. On the other hand, if you guys think I'm worth my salt, I'm retired, and do have time to burn. I've done some professional writing, but not in the sports arena. Just throwin that out there.... no need to answer. I was an IDP specialist at a FF site for a couple of years. It was fun, but it never really got off the ground. In any case, I think there have been some very solid team drafts here. If I find the time, I might do a friendly critique on it..... but there were a good number of folks who seemd to know what their team needs were, and made solid BAP choices. not over just yet, but to all those who paid attention, and did a great job.... Joseph, Croyle and Degory were picks I liked a lot. Hodge was solid where you got him too, and was a nice BAP/need pick, even though the Vikes keep taking LB's that disappoint. I think Hodge breaks the bad run. They could still use a RT, but few teams fill all of their holes in the draft. With Hutch at LG, Birk if he stays healthy, and Joseph at RG, I think CHESTER TAYLOR (!) will have a good year!
