Excellent observation!

Especially when you consider how great the Panthers have done without Sam in the lineup.

With (checks notes) a washed up Cam Newton and the great PJ Walker as his alternatives.

About that…

Oh, and there’s also this minor detail:  Teddy Bridgewater had the best season of his career with Brady as his OC.  And Robby Anderson did as well.

Two years ago, the Panthers were 5-11.  So they got a new coach and put Teddy Bridgewater, (who did well for extended periods in New Orleans), at QB.  They went 5-11 again under Teddy.

Teddy goes to the Broncos, who were awful last year, and has them at 6-6 and in contention for the playoffs.  Not too bad, bringing a team up like that.

Sam goes to the Panthers, and takes them to 4-4 without a broken arm, and 0-1 with one.  Looks like an improvement to me.  Without him, the Panthers fall to 1-2.

No question about it, Sam improved the team.

Exactly.  It doesn’t matter how nice you are in this cutthroat business.  Darnold will be making $18.9M next year despite sucking at his job, while multiple coaches (some of them respected) have now lost their jobs due to him sucking.

Meanwhile Minshew and Trubisky -- passable (get it) NFL QBs are trying to claw their way to a starting job. Darnold should give $5M each to Ryan Tannehill and Adam Gase.
