Didn't Joe Namath play a few seasons in the 70's if I recall? I would put Joe in there over Todd. Now I liked Todd until the mud bowl but he didn't do much in the 70's.

It’s either Todd or Namath, but you probably right Namath should be the guy. Outside of 72 Joe wasn’t very good in the 70s either.

A lot of the guys on that list were only with the team at the beginning or the end of the 70’s. Namath was there until 76.  Winston hill barely made it into the 70’s. Steve Tannen? Talk about a guy who just couldn’t stay on the field. Same thing with Eliot. Burgess Owens was there as was Clark Gaines.  I think the bottom line is the whole 70’s was a rebuilding decade as the team moved from embankment to Michael’s (with a couple bad stops on the way).

Problem was Joe was often injured in the 70s. His best seasons were 72 & 74. In the second half of 74 the Jets won 6 in a row and knocked off some of the top teams in the conference. By 1975 Joe had declined physically and both the 75 and 76 Jets were among the worst Jets teams in history.
