Alexei Lafreniere was an overall #1 pick a few years back and I guess you can say he's been a disappointment. Unlike Zach he's a good player and contributor just not playing close to his draft status. He makes a lot of good plays he's just not a good scorer. So far he has 30 points on the year 13-17. His shots on goal are good quality ones he's just not regularly converting. Maybe he'd be better at center he's a good passer and forechecker.

This team... can't protect a two goal lead with 7 minutes to go in the game against one of the worst teams in the league....

Obviously we take the two points and run but the signs are not good right now.

There certainly is a lot to work on. The power play is also struggling.

However they are a team that has not given up many goals in wins. They just kept both the Avalanche and Lighting to 1 goal.

The loss of Chytil is huge, he was the #2 center when he went down. While Trocheck has filled that spot, it still leaves a huge hole in the lineup at the center position.

Shesterkin needs to get back to form, the good thing is Quick has shown that he can step in as the #1 if necessary.

They still don't have a RW for Mika and Kreids and that line is struggling. Should have kept Buchnevich. I would let Kakko play there, and give him some time to gel with them.

It will be interesting to see what they do before the trade deadline, and there are stories that Dolan wants to hold on to their 1st round pick. He may have actually saved them from making a few bad deals already.

A good win last night.  Team defense was strong but not completely smothering and so Igor needed to be vintage Igor to get us this win.  All in all that was exactly what the team needed.  Markstrom was as good or even better than Igor given that he stoned us on so many grade-A scoring chances.

Cuylle getting us a greasy one for the win.  Way to go kid!  What a rookie campaign.

As usual, Laffy could have had himself a double hat trick if he ever figured out how to finish in front of net.

Edstom did not make any glaring mistakes in his second game with the club.  His size is certainly intriguing.  He needs to get together with Trouba, Lindgren and Cuylle to figure out how to add some controlled aggression to that size. It might end up being his ticket to stay up here.

Yes definitely, good play by Kakko taking it to the net there as well.

It's a decent line with Brodzinski centering them, they have been producing.

Good win last night against a team with nothing to lose and who have the ability to score in bunches.  Yeah I know that they also do not play any defense but this is the kind of game we have been stubbing our toes on all season long.  And so... bullet dodged, two more points in the bank  and onto the next game.

Islanders outdoors on Sunday.  Another tough game because desperation is clearly setting in among the Metropolitan chasing pack.  Put simply they need it more than we do and by a lot.

The Wheeler injury looked very serious which triggers two things.  Drury may be forced to address the hole at the trade deadline as opposed to "adding a final piece" approach.   It also means that we are going to get a longer look at at least one more of our youngsters in addition to Edstrom who was already set up for an elongated stay with the designation of Pitlick down to Hartford.

The biggest part of the game last night is that Kreider and Mika may finally be waking up from a long slumber. The power play actually got off the schneid which was long overdue and we all know that Mika has always been streaky.

While the win was nice, it reinforces that Shesterkin is not the same guy this year. I don't see them going very deep with him as their main goalie. They are going to have to rely on a 40 year old. Sound familiar? emoji6.png

The 2nd goal he should have stopped. Not sure you can fault him for the deflections.

He needs to be better, but so does the team, way too many turnovers.

Highway robbery. Unbelievable comeback

Does anyone do that quick one-timer better than ZIBS from the the low FO Circle? Threaded the freakin’ needle top shelf while drifting backwards!
