Your draft pick and why

Recommended Posts

List your draft pick and why for us this year, or trade down and why

Trade down. I really like Gholston but if McFadden is on the board and we can trade down I say do it. Last year pick #6 Landry got around 8 million a year. You could get a great player in the top 10 or you could get Drob, a waist of cap space. At 14 we got Revis last year and Harris at 47. David Harris has a 4 year deal worth around 3 mil, and I'm not sure on Revis' contract numbers but its a lot cheaper then Landry and I would much rather have Revis.

The only major need that this team has not addressed is for a goto receiver who can make plays and improve our QB play. We did not get Randy Moss...so my draft pick is for the best receiver in the upcoming draft....Malcolm Kelly. After he runs a 4.4 at his pro day, this pick will make more sense as a top 8 pick.

SH What happened to Kelly after the first 3 games of the year.....7 tds in the first 3, and only 9 on the year. What was the reason for his bad second half?

I would love to get Chris Long. I doubt it would happen, he will be long gone at that point I think. The more I thought about it, DMC is not a need, more of a want. Gholston would be a good pick up and a good pass rusher. I would say realistically its going to be Gholston or trade down and get a WR.

Perfect world, we trade down with Dallas and pick up a CB and a WR. Maybe that tall fast ****er. Use our second on an ilb if there is one available or maybe a good o-lineman.

I would prefer to trade down as well, CB WR or DE WR, and I wouldnt mind if we took a shot at Flacco in the second. Now that the Giants won the SB by rushing the QB, many teams are going to copy cat and attack the qb. Teams are going to need bigger qbs who can withstand the pounding and break some of the tackles and make some plays.

ok jets trade down get so far looks lik cowboys want mcfadden bad so we get there 22 pick and maybe 2nd rounder? jets get a corner in 1st round maybe brandon flowers, aqib talib, antione cason then second rounder depends on whos there if a WR like james hardy, early doucet drops thats wha ti would want or a lb/de like avril, groves then with the later 2nd rounder(i hope we could get that) i say lineman, running back or a safety. if matt forte, chris jonhson, ray rice are there then i would want one of them, and for safety jamar adams or tom zbikowski

EDIT: Joe flacco would be awesome i would love if jets took him in 2nd rounder preferably if we get a another 2nd rounder and he is still on board they have to take him.

DMC ALL THE WAY

We have sured up our OLine and DLine with the FA signings, got ourselves a pass rusher in Pace (there are others that will be there in the second rd, see cliff avril) we need someone that other teams need to gameplan against, a playmaker. If DMC is there we have to pull the trigger. Say all you want about Mendenhall or Stewart, but Mendenhall ran away from the slow Big 10 and Stewart ran away from the ***tty Pac-10 while DMC tore up the best conference in football and the eventual national champions. Plus, i do not see where there is evidence that he cant take it up the middle, the guy is a strong runner, would allow us to use Jones as a change of pace power back and Leon as a special play player (screens, trick plays) it would give our offense a whole new dimension. One we havent seen in NY since I can't remember

Dude. WTF? How many times do I need to speak ill of Flacco before everyone understands that I know what I am talking about... He is overrated.

Flacco is a project QB, not a first-day pick. At best he's going to have to sit on the bench and work on his skills for three years like Romo did. At worst, he will never get up to speed at all.

I've seen him play. He had one good season in the CAA. It just so happens that the CAA was generally weak this year, all-around. He is a slightly above-average I-AA QB on a very good I-AA team.

He's got an arm, but he doesn't know how to use it. He's also less mobile than a 40-year-old Vinny Testaverde.

If he falls to the 5th round, he'll be a reach, but more of a realistic pick than 2nd or even 3rd round.

Dont know much about Flacco (besides u hate him) but I agree no QB needed in this draft, lets see how ours play I'd rather fill little holes here and there with our draft.

That has to be the the stupidest thing i have ever heard. he runs a 4.7 which was one of the fastest for qbs in the draft. i kno he will be a good quaterback in the nfl

Trade 6th overall pick to Dallas in exchange for the 22nd and 28th overall picks.

22nd - CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Tennessee State

28th - WR James Hardy, Indiana OR Mario Manningham, Michigan

I changed my mind, I think we need to stay at 6 and grab John David Booty. Mel Kiper was just talking about QB's on ESPN and said he sees "a little Chad Pennington in Booty". No brainer here.

He should consider suing Kiper for defamation of character, because he just moved down some draft boards.

What will the Jets do in the draft?

Clemens, who was drafted in the 2nd round himself, is still largely unproven so I doubt they would draft a QB at #6.

After spending so much on DE/OLB Pace I don't think they spend that much more on another DE/OLB like Gholston. (This would be my second option at #6)

They won't take Mcfadden who has character issues, does not exemplify himself as a Mangini guy and already have Jones behind a revamped OL. As average as Jones seems I don't think Mangini is ready to give up on him after 1 year behind a poor OL.

They won't take OT Jake Long when they have a young aspiring LT in Ferguson.

That's why I think there is a reasonable possibility, that if they have to draft at #6 and he's available, the Jets might take a DT, like Sedric Ellis. He's considered a good fit for the Jets defense. With Ellis' motor and intensity and his ability to get into the backfield and disrupt, he might be the smartest pick and also the greatest value for the Jets at #6.

Of course, if the Jets have the ability to trade down they should do it and get as many picks as they can. WR and CB right now would be the highest priority, like Hardy and Mckelvin or Cromarty.

Sedric Ellis good choice, a little short but like his game I see him as a 2 gap DT but what the hell I guess a 3-4 DE.

...would be my best case scenerio.

I don't care if we signed Woody, nothing like having a little competition at the G spot and have a nice amount of depth in the o-line.

22nd - Branden Albert

28th - Rodgers-Cromartie (if he somehow is around)/ Hardy

LEODIS MCKELVIN - TROY STATE

PLAYMAKER AND STRAIGHT UP BALLER

Positives: Has a lean frame, but shows good muscle tone and the body to carry another 10 pounds without having the added weight impact his quickness...Not the most instinctive ball hawk you will find, but he has quick feet and good change-of-direction agility to close, once he locates the ball...Smooth open-field runner with the balance, body control and leaping ability to make plays on balls that are outside of his frame (must extend for the ball more often, though, as he will body catch)...Can take the plays from the chalkboard to the field with just a few reps...Plays with good confidence and he will not hesitate to combat for the jump balls or mix it up with receivers running through their patterns...Will get rag-dolled at the line of scrimmage in run support, but still shows willingness to plug the rush lanes (made 24 plays in run support as a senior)...Hard worker in practices and in the training room and is respected by the staff and his teammates, taking pride in his team captaincy...When he doesn't bail out of his backpedal too early, he generates good transition quickness and a burst to close coming out of his breaks...Needs to extend for the ball, but you can see that he has the timing and leaping ability to get to the pass at its high point...He will get high in his pedal and shuffle his feet at times, but comes out of his breaks with good balance...Not that strong, but is a pester type that will keep his hands active in attempts to reroute the receiver...When he plants and drives smoothly, he is capable of mirroring the receiver (will struggle to recover when he fails to open his hips)...Shows the willingness and toughness to quickly support vs. run and will throw his body around to get the ballcarrier on the ground (likes contact)...Sees routes develop adequately, but is better when he can sink under deep stuff and react to things in front of him rather than play deep in the zone (will have lapses and allow a receiver to come free when he eyeballs the backfield too long)...Will fight for the ball in a crowd (shows good courage) and gets excellent elevation to combine with solid body control adjusting to the ball in flight...Does not shy away from contact and while he has marginal weight-room strength, he will lower his shoulder and thump a ballcarrier in attempts to contain the outside run...Shows good vision, foot quickness, and change-of-direction agility as a return specialist...Fields the ball cleanly as a kickoff and punt returner and has a knack for making big plays with the ball in his hands...Not a great wrap-up tackler (struggles to bring opponents down), but will square up and put his hat on the ballcarrier (not effective when he tackles to the side, as he will fall off those hits).

Compares To: R.W. McQUARTERS-New York Giants...Like McQuarters, McKelvin is a solid return specialist, even though he does not always play to his timed speed. He needs some technique refinement, but due to a lack of natural power, he is never going to be a physical tackler. He shows willingness in run support, but is better making plays on the move than getting bounced around in tight quarters. Like McQuarters, he runs hot-and-cold with his ball-reaction skills, sometimes looking like Bambi staring down at the headlights of an oncoming truck. McKelvin has the ability to break a game open once he finds a crease on returns. Until he can prove that he can add strength, his immediate value will be on special teams.

I'm not sure I understand this post. Are you advocating that we take somebody that compares to R.W. McQuarters at #6?

#2 rated CB in draft with great return ability..Now you have 2 young tough corners for the next five years..I'm not saying draft him I'm saying he is an option.
