Irish Jet
So we made a stink to high hell to sign Revis to a 6-year deal when he was like the 15th pick. Then we sign the #6 pick to a 5 year deal. Makes sense. So now we'll need to redo this again with another mega contract in 4 years to keep him from hitting free agency. Only the Jets. nj meadowlands
What gives with that? Aren't Tangini huge proponents of the 6 year rookie contract?
Irish Jet
Yup, it sucks big time. Means if he lives up to the hype we're going to have to dish out big money in 4-5 years time.
BwanaZulia
It would be real nice if he turned into a monster that had to be double teamed more often than not. 10+ sacks this year! BZ

Gholston was only given $40 million, not $50. But I agree to the point that the money these unproven rookies are getting is ridiculous. Sure you shoud be rewarded for being the #1 overall pick and such, but not by how much Jake Long is making this year or how much anyone in the Top 6 or 7 is making. The NFL should adapt a rookie pay scale for all picks with something like this: 1st pick: 5 years, $30 million 2nd pick: 5 years, $27 million 3rd pick: 5 years, $24 million etc etc etc Nobody outside of the Top 20 should make more than $1 million a season.
