Yankees opening day - April 6th

April 7th - OFF

April 8th - 22nd - 15 straight games

April 23rd off

April 24th - May 10th - 17 straight games

May 11th off

May 12th - May 27th - 16 straight games

May 28th off

May 29th - June 14th - 17 straight games

They play 65 games between 4/8 - 6/14 with a total of 3 off days...

The Yankees NEED a 6th starter to pick up a couple of starts for the benefit of Joba's inning count not to mention Pettitte's/Burnett's/Wang health.

Brutal.

... and earn 50% of the revenue. I'm sure that will happen.

Less games would lead to higher attendance... no more empty stadiums... it would also lead to better play from healthier and well rested players...

Higher attendance. Um, okay let's start with the Yankees. They sell 50,000 seats a night. So please be sure to include a 100,000 seat stadium in your proposal.

More well rested players. It is baseball. You play every day for 3 hours and the other 21 you can do what you want.

Yankees are the exception to the attendance... not the standard...

Also... having a ton of games does not automatically equal money... look at the NFL...

Thats why they charge like 4.50 to 5 bucks for a hot dog, and about 7 dollars for beer in Yankee Stadium. They already sell out all of their games, so they have to make money also with the food/beer prices, and people who are tourists will buy stuff, like jerseys, and hats.

I personally think the schedule length is just fine, after all players these days are a lot more lazy then they used to be. Closers used to go 3 innings, now they only go 1 inning. Starters a lot of the times used to pitch an entire game.

Yeah man its the players walking off the mound telling the manager they just don't feel like pitching anymore.
