The use of magnesium chloride will cause "scaling" of your concrete. Scaling, as defined by the American Concrete Institute (ACI 302) and the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association in their series of "Concrete In Practice," "is the local flaking or peeling of a finished surface of hardened concrete as a result of freezing and thawing.”

Whatever works for you is fine by me but you made a statement and I provided you with factual information clearly negating your statement you then decided to make it personal and call me clueless.

Who's right who's wrong does it really matter who wins who loses I thought we were discussing snow, cold, ice and suggestions in dealing with it however you choose.

It eats the surface on concrete you will notice small chips like corn flakes this spring coming off the sidewalk

I probably should of mentioned its for a small patch of blacktop next to where I park so I don't fall and get another concussion

So... I've got what looks like 3 feet of snow on my roof. My house is a colonial, any thoughts on good methods of getting some of that snow off that 2nd story roof? I'm not really keen on the idea of climbing up there and none of the roof rakes would reach.

Last year was the first time ever that I had to shovel my roof because of how bad the ice damning was. You don't have to get the whole roof just like 4-5 ft from the gutter up so the sh*t can drain. If your worried about weight you'll have to shovel it all off. I remember working at a huge office building that had so much snow on the roof that they couldn't close the doors on the top floor. And that was last year. They paid an arm and a leg to remove the snow from that roof.

Snow rake is cheaper, but kind of a pain in the ass. Check this out:

If its half as easy as it looks, it's worth the extra hundred bucks.

I was looking at these, but wasn't sure I could get up high enough to use it.

Be careful with this. It all depends on the angle. Or you'll be ******* your shingles up. I would actually try it before I'd buy it.

Was also concerned about this.
